Some folks, and I would have to agree, believe that Mexico is run by the Drug cartels. This could be true? If so, given that a drug lord has absolutely no inhibitions about who or what they kill or how; is the AMerican form of government going to do anything to stop it? They been fighting those so and so's for decades now and seems like there are more drugs than ever. Spicey stuff coming and going all around us. That is probubly how illegalism got so big. Gotta have someone bringing that stuff in and across.
Who'e winning? Think the Feds are scared for their own lives? Like: We will leave you alone, if you leave us alone?

Yes Alberto: I see that. I have to wince a bit as it seems that Democracy laced with Capitalism de AMericano, is not much different than the bad habits of a heavy Meth freak and what they will do for more drugs ...or money.

The only way to win the war on drugs is to remove demand. The only way to do that is to develop social policies and programs that will increase the standard of living, educational and vocational opportunities for those most effected by addiction. Drug USE needs to be treated as a health issue, not a criminal issue. And this process of rebuilding a strong society is something that will take a committment of generations.

Until that happens, U.S. jails and prisons (already home to 1/3 of the worlds prison population) will stay full to overflowing, the demand will increase and illegal drugs will continue to flow into the U.S.... and you can't keep them out.

American society is in a great deal of trouble, in so many ways. It needs to be rebuilt, rationally and humanely. If it isn't, America will become the richest third-world country on the planet.

Is this a war that the US govt really REALLY wants to win? There is a theory that those in power are quite happy to see a large part of the underclass so sodden with drugs that they can mount no serious political or economic challenge to the power elite. The authorities only get worked up when drugs reach rich areas. However this covert tolerance may have backfired now that the drug based economy is so large and so entrenched.

Prohibition is the cause of all this. Stop fighting a losing battle and put the drug lords of both countries out of business. Is it more important to 'win' or solve the problem?

Unfortunately the Mexican government and their partners the drug lords are winning the war against the American middle class and with the help of the pro illegals and liberals, also the Democrats that are going to give in to the corporations of America and give amnesty to 12+millions of illegals and hell with the American citizens.Shall we be proud of these leaders in our government, like John McCain., Kennedy and the rest of anti-American who are supposed to represent the American citizens of our country. What are they doing with our border in order to control the illegal aliens and the drugs crossing into our land, nothing, to them that's not the issue, the issue is to give amnesty to the illegals, because that's where their money is, through the American corporations. plain shame...plain shame!!!

I dont think we are winning - too much money involved and the
drug lords dont have any other place to waste theirs. This is a
cancer eating us up from within - much more important than
what is going on in Iraq. They could not sell drugs in the united
states if tons of people didnt buy them.
