did you want red highlights?
get a highlight kit where you pull chunks thru a cap
bleach the sections you want red, but DO NOT remove cap
the bleach only has to lift enough color for the red to stick
probably gonna be a funny color orange
wash the bleach off, but DO NOT remove cap
dry the hair that is sticking out of the cap with a blow dryer
then apply the red punky colour or manic panic whatever to the dry orange hair, color should take pretty good cause it's raw
when your done you might get weird spots, rub the red dye there cause the black will stay black

Dying your hair red over black hair dye will not change it to red. All it will do (if anything, especially since you dyed it black a couple of days ago) will make your hair shine red in the sun. If you're that anxious to dye it red, get a color stripper, get out the black as much as you can, and then dye it red. Although this could fry your hair if you do it all too close together.

If you want to dye you hair red that will be fine. But if you dye it a few days ago at least give it a week before you dye it again or 2. If you hair black and you changing to a light color that o.k but after few months if you hair is natural black than you know you will have to do the roots again not the hold head. You can do that again in about a month after the roots the hold head. I do my hair myself and I have had any problems. Took it up in school.
good luck with the color.

Okay - if a guy wants black get a dark brown to black dye never ever a black dye or it will look like you used shoe polish to color your hair. Two days is not long enough to redye. Wait 30 days or more and then red over black will get you that strange maroon brick red that the goth women (not kids) in the ethnic neighborhoods of NYC wear. Stranger than your shoe polish black. To be safe go to a hair salon and see a professional colorist and have her strip your hair and then recolor. They may be able to do it sooner than the month you would have to wait.

You can color red over top of it BUT its only going to give it a reddish cast over the black....If you are talking about highlites then u prolly have to use bleach before u add the red hair dye. There is actually a sweet FIRE engine red color out now and its semi-permanent it goes awesome with darker hair. If i think of the products name i'll let u know.

No red will not go over black hair dye the best thing is dye your hair blonde and then red or better yet go to a hair salon and have them do it for you because they are professionals this is your best bet.

No it won't . If you had it done at a salon t they should fix it for free You can try using dish deterent to wash your hair ( it strips out the color ) or lightens it Or a couple of capfuls of hydrogen peroxide ( will lighten it) taught to me by a hair dresser. I have had this same problem and it comes from Over dying my hair . Hair is porous and overtime it soaked up the dye color. I generally have to strip my hair and start over .

I'm no professional, but i'm pretty sure black is too dark for the red, at best you'll get a really really dark maroon.
You'll probably have to bleach and then dye red.

No,sorry but you will have to use hair dye remover to get it out and then redye your hair. If you put the red over it,it will still be black.
