if I Sin for the 60 or 70 years i may live and go to hell, is it fair that i should experience being burned alive fore ever?? i mean surely just the 60 or 70 years would be more than enough payback for my sins in fact about 5 minutes would be more than enough!!

Absolutely correct ! Thank God that the Bible does not teach this fable. No one will burn for trillions of milleniums in eternal flames for any sin.

Since the Bible does not teach this you do not have to believe it.

The Bible teaches that those who, as you say, "sin for 60 or 70 years" have failed to let God change their characters for heaven and consequently are unfit to live there.

Those who go to heaven must have Christlike characters. A Christlike character is the only kind of character that could enjoy heaven and the only kind of character that could be trusted in heaven.

So, sinning 60 or 70 years is a deliberate, voluntary, self determined exclusion from heaven.

The Bible teaches that after receiving their punishment, the unrighteous will cease to exist. If they continued to live in eternal flames forever, that would mean that they were immortal. But God does not promise immortality to the unrighteous.

Here are some scriptures that show how completely the unrighteous will be destroyed- not live - cease to exist.

6:7,17 Completely destroyed
19:23-29 Fire and brimstone

Exodus 22:20 Utterly Destroyed

37:36,38 Destroyed altogether
50:3 Devoured
52:5 Destroyed forever
55:23 Destruction in pit
58:7 Melt away as water and cut in pieces
59:13 Consumed in wrath
62:3 God will slay the wicked

Ezekiel 18:4,20 Dead forever

Although preached by many Christians, the idea of eternal torment in a pit flames is not accepted by all. Some believe that the wages of sin is death (Genesis 3:3; Romans 6:23), not eternal life in hell. In Ezekiel 18 God says that the soul that sins shall die. He does not say it will live forever in a pit of fire.

The death here spoken of is not the death that everybody now dies, which is temporary, but the second death which is the penalty for sin. This happens after the last judgment, when those who have been sentenced to death are killed by being burnt up. Perhaps those who are more wicked will burn longer, but the end result is that all the condemned criminals are reduced to ashes (Malachi 4:1,3). They die a death from which there will be no resurrection. See the other links below.

I think you are right because in Matthew 5:26 Jesus said you will not come out until you finish paying. There are tons of other scriptures that point to the fact the torments of hell are not actually forever. You see after death there is no time in the spirit world and 5 min. there is just like forever because time doesn't exist. I believe everyone who ends up in hell can get out when they are ready to ask for forgiveness and to acknowledge that God is right and they were wrong. I think this is very hard for a person to do though once you are there because the torments are so bad that you will likely be full of hatred and bitterness towards God.

For me, hell is the bad memories our fellow citizens will have of us after we die. Gradually these memories will go and that will be the end of our hell.

In primitive times tribal leaders and priests had to invent fire and brimstone and unimaginably cruel punishments so as to ensure some order. The trouble is that some Christians, especially in the Bible Belt of US, still live in those primitive times and swallow everything in the Old Testament hook line and sinker, even when they are contradicted by the New Testament. In Europe however, where educational standards are much higher, hardly any one believes in the Old Testament

You missed the point. The point is not that you are here to sin for a while and then be punished for it.
The point is that you are on earth to decide whether you want to accept God's offer of eternal life and live according to his government. It is all explained in the Bible and you will either accept or reject it. There are only two places to go and God has made a way for anyone to be saved. Do you want to do it his way or not???

It all depends on the weather - best to die on a very cold day, you will get the true benefit of the free heating system. To die on a hot day is not that bad, ask to be buried in something light , airy, and fashionable as the `HELLo`, foyer bar serves cocktails and chilled nibbles before the main roast . See you all there!

What a punk eh? 60 measly years of sin and you get Eternal punishment. God sure is lucky there is no Supreme Court in Heaven - they'd strike that down as CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT.

Read the freakin Bible -

And to the idiot girl that said all you have to do is ask for forgiveness on your deathbed - that person is surely set for hell.

I know I sound like a biggot but this is annoying, just because you don't like something you can't just refuse to believe it. I don't like having to pay bills - oh well.

There is a parable in the New Testament in which a man went to hell and could not get out.

The Catholic church has really made this a problem. Like everything else they do.

Jesus died for you - he was tortured and crucified for you. All you have to do is have faith in him and try to be like him. Then you do not have to worry about eternal fire.

There have been so many things in the bible that do not fit the basic teaching of Jesus, I know the roots of christianity are in vedic teachings from india. Jesus taught the same as siddha yoga and vedanta philosophy. see www.stephen-knapp/articles_to_read. this is an unbiased, factual site. As for the kingdom of God I have found that within my own heart. As for hell, I beleive it was destroyed by all the baptismal water flowing into hell. All people have unity with God in unconditional love within their hearts. NOW. they just need to awake to that. NONE WILL BE LOST, we will all return to God together, Love demands that we not leave our brother or sister behind.
