i downloaded this file and the extension is hqx.hqx and it wont download please help

Safari protects you against malacious files by preventing the download of files with double extensions.

Do you mean it won't open? Try opening StuffIt Expander first. You'll find it in Applications / Utilities. After it is open, you will see the StuffIt Expander icon in the Dock area. Drop the file on that icon. If it still won't open, either you have an incomplete download or a wacked out StuffIt Expander. My StuffIt flakes out quite often so I have to toss it and download a new one. Now a new company has taken over StuffIt and they don't just let you download it directly. You have to agree to their email advertising first. You can unsubscribe but that is just irritating to me to go through this trouble.

You need an application called Stuffit Expander. Google it. It's a file format similar to ZIP.
