By natural design humans are hard wired toward spirituality. Science refers to a section of the brain as the "God Module". When this area of the brain is stimulated the person has a spiritual experience. The question is then, why does nature design us to religion?

The answer is that evolution has determined that faith is a good thing. It provides us with strength even when we would otherwise regard the situation as hopeless. We can always use our faith no matter how dismay our future may appear. Thought faith, we have seen society progress for the benefit of those who proceed from us. Though we be die we have the hope of an eternity of happiness.

To me Faith is the only thing. Without Faith I think that I would be lost. Faith gives me a sense of direction in my life.

Not talking about religion... I have faith in the goodness of others to do what is morally right, I consider that a great trait, about my self and others.

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

It is by God's instruction that we live by faith making that a good thing. Prasie the Lord! Since my only focus is upon serving the Lord, that is where my faith remains. praise the Lord!

I think faith is a good thing when a person is very ill (believing you will get well can make the difference between life and death) or when it comes to things like believing in your child, friend...or when it comes to things like work.

I think the line between "faith" and "having a positive attitude" could get blurry there.

never!

faith leads to murder and suicide. look at the muslim extremist terrorists committing both in faith. look at the people of Waco, Texas who killed themselves. Look at jim jones' followers who drank the KoolAde which was poisoned. trusting people without reason to is dangerous on the smaller scale as well: children kidnapped by people they just met, but already had faith in... no, we should not just believe what we hear, but rather put it to the test constantly! people who put their faith in their friends are different. to trust a friend is to have your trust earned for some good reason. family, same idea. it is the trusting of strangers and belief in events that you did not witness that can lead to harm. and death.

EDIT:
to all who have faith. you're saying that the only thing that gives you direction and leadership and purpose is the belief in something that cannt be proved, or that is based on no factual findings, nor logic? (by definition, that's what faith is. if you had facts, logic, and a proven thing then it would be knowledge, and not faith).

yes there most definitely is! in fact faith only tends to become negetive when it is abused by people who use peoples faith to control them.. for example i think people should figure out religion themselves rather than have it imposed on them.

faith is most definitely not solely do to with or restricted to religion. faith is what allows you to be confident in your decisions and actions, it guides you and gives you optimism in people and in an otherwise increasingly cynical world that things will work out. faith keeps you going, and without it life would become somewhat meaningless, as your own faith ultimately dictates how you percieve the world and the people who live in it.

Faith is not only a good thing it is the only thing. I have faith that God will take me to Heaven. Faith is believing when all hope is gone, faith is where you keep singing when there is no song.

Faith is defined as having confidence, belief in truth, value, or in trustworthiness of others, ideas, or things. Faith is the one constant in our lives that allows us to move forward. Even the avowed atheists on this site show faith in themselves and their beliefs or lack their of. Many people put all their faith in science. People who smoke, continually tan their skin, eat excessively all seem to believe that science will save them from themselves. That would fit the definition of faith.
