ALI!!!!!!!!!

2007-01-02 11:26:15 · answer #1 · answered by HITMAN 3 · 0 2

obviously would be sugar ray robinson, he doesnt get the respect he deserves because he wasent a heavy weight and boxed before alot of peoples time.Sugar was 85-0 as an amateur and 69 of those victories came by knock out or TKO. Robinson was the first boxer in history to win a divisional world championship five times.1940 Golden Gloves lightweight champion. welterweight and middleweight champion.World Welterweight Champion
20 Dec 1946– 14 Feb 1951 and 4 more times after that..Muhammad Ali, who repeatedly called himself "The Greatest" throughout his career, has said without hesitation that, while he does consider himself the greatest heavyweight in boxing history, that he would rank Robinson the greatest fighter of all time. Other all time greats like Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Leonard have said the same.
he also beat jake lamotta 5 times

Sugar Ray Robinson is the best boxer ever. My personal favorite like most of the people here is Ali. The younger version is a very close second to Robinson.

Oh my God! Guys! How could you forget Lenox Lewis?! You don't say that he his the best of all time becouse he's Half British Half Canadian? That is not fair. His fighting style "orthodox" is closest to perfection! Lenox has the best body as a heavyweight (6 ft 5 in or 196 cm tall,247lbs or 112kg and the unbelievable 84 inch reach),Lewis had the reflex NOT to close his eyes when oponent throws a punch (that's why his defence was so impressive). He won the fights with an oponents like: Mike Tyson,Vitali Klitschko, Evander Holyfield,David Tua and other great fighters! Moreover he is a great personality outside the ring, intellectual, nice person, with a great sence of humor. I don't know about the guys who fought earlier than 60s' (i'm not interested in that period) but in my opinion Lenox is the best in the history of boxing...please respond. p.s. i think my answer is the best :D

C'mon people. Even Ali says Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest fighter ever! Ray Robinson was "the" fighter that changed boxing! And his record......holy shi_! The guy has twice and many times three times the fights of most fighter who have ever fought!
Ali was 'great' for sure. And I would argue to say one of the best chins to ever take a punch. But without Sugar...there would be no Ali!!!!

tyson's delinquint self. heavyweight champ at 20 years of age, knocked out his first 19 opponents, averaged 1:45 per fight, not to mention he fought professionally about every two or three weeks the first two years of his career. No one likes to acknowlege him as the best, because he's a "bad guy". I don't even like him. But I cannot deny his dominance in the ring. I've got tapes of Ali, Patterson, Frazier, Foreman, Liston, Lewis, Etc, and I have yet to see anyone as fast, dominant, and powerful as Tyson. Best person?, No. Best Boxer, Yes.

The best 2 or 3 year span would go to Tyson, who just killed everybody, but the best ever? Give it to Ali. He came out on top in the most legendary heavyweight matches ever. He had the speed, he had the power, and his personality and charisma rose above the sport and captured the heart and minds of millions. Think the Babe Ruth of boxing.
