I know for myself I thank God my parents taught me religion by attending church reg. I rarely go to church now and it is a nondenominational. i dont believe everything i was taught to be as i was taught but it gives me a good base for my life. i wonder sometimes where i'd be without that "religious" foundation in my life. and if you look around, watch the news, we know religion is becomming less comman in families and the results are pretty obvious. Religion in itsself is a lot of bullshit. but if we learn and then study the bible ourselves against several religions we are more apt to find a true-belief for ourselves. the upside to attending a religious sevice is the atmosphere of love, peace, hope, and "anti-evil" (serenity?) and reminding we get of God, and His Goodness. the world would be a much nicer place if we all acted like we were in a religious service 24/7.
religion cant be bad for you, it's like another therory or topic in any aspect of life available to research and study in order to form an educated opinion. rather you ever believe anything you study about religion or not, is not for me to judge. but do you ever research an idea and believe every option available, if so you are still undecided,. I dont have access to the books or knowledge of all religion nor do most of us. when i am questioning a thought or teaching i use the resourses in my household and also what i have been told or overheard about the subject and form an opinion to the best of my knowledge. you can do that with religious issues as well. but if you never study the bible and/or different religions; how will you really know? try it WITHOUT any set belief to see what the Bible actually says, cant hurt.?

It would be no different....
People just use religion as a shield, it doesn't prevent or inspire them to do anything they wouldn't do otherwise.
If a person is going to be an evil phuker, he's going to be one religion or no,
If a person is good and kind, he will be that way religion or no religion.
Atheist totalitarian countries and governments have been just as bad--if not worse, than anything any religious institution committed in hundreds of years combined.
Humans are Humans, it really makes no difference.

We would be worse off by a country mile. Slavery would be rampant. Slavery was ended in this country by religious abolitionists. Charity and compassion for others would be greatly diminished. Think of all the charities that would be gone. Salvation Army, Samaritans Purse, Catholic Charities, all the food and clothes drives. Non-religious places like 20th century Russia would be the norm, with brutal dictators murdering millions with no moral compass of good and evil.

Man will always have a type of religion, it is in us. Just look back to the pagan religion in the OT or check out your history books, its not pretty. The world is a better place because Christ came.

Our technology would probably be more advanced because people would think freely and and with open minds, not closed minds like today. There might have already been a cure for cancer found because we wouldn't lose thousands of dollars towards religion and could use it for medical purposes....basically the world would just be much better.

The world would be very different indeed. I've seen the book People Who Have Changed The World. Jesus is in that book. No one can say that he did not effect the world. If he was never born or didn't die on the cross the would world would be very different.

Of course humans are hard wired to conceive of God. Science refers to an area of the brain called the "God module" which elicits spiritual sensations.
However, if there were no part of the human brain and if there was no conception of God, then there would probably be no conception of sin, of evil, or moral conduct. We would not speak of human dignity, human worth, or altruistic behavior.
I suppose we be like the animals, always fighting for dominance and subjugating others to our demands. We wouldn't have evolved to the civilized society we are today.

I don't care much for religion. But I love my God. Religion starts wars, God started life.
