Lips get chapped for a lot of reasons. First off, it's winter, which means serious wind. Wind and cold air dry ure lips out. Also, if you don't like wipe ure mouth after eating salty or sugary stuff, the salt and sugar may also dry ure lips out.

My lips get so chapped during the winter its not even funny. First off, AVOID LIP GLOSS AND LIPSTICK. Go for chapstick. Apply before going outside, and before going to bed. Works if youre lips are really not that bad. Stay away from flavored chapstick, cuz that may tempt u to lick ure lips.

Now, if you bite the chapped parts off ure lips, u really have to stop. It just makes it worse, and it causes ure lips to bleed much more. To get rid of this chapped parts that you can't stop biting off you'll need all of the following:

A toothbrush
Vaseline
Chapstick
Your bathroom sink

Rub vaseline onto ure lips. Then smear on chapstick. Now, I now this sounds weird, but i swear it worked for me. Take ure toothbrush, (make sure it's like unused, cuz u could get germs thru someone elses used toothbrush. Using ure own toothbrush isn't such a smart idea either.) And start rubbing away at ure lips. The bristles sort of help chip away the chapped parts, and the vaseline and chapstick helps so ure lips don't end up a bloody mess. And it doesn't even hurt either. Just brush away ure lips lightly, but just enough to brush off the chapped areas. Do this above ure bathroom sink, cuz it could get messy.

Hope I helped!

Good luck!

If it was summer I would suggest SPF chapstick, but since it's winter I doubt your lips are drying due to the sun. It is just as easy and likely for cold to chap your lips, but that is harder to prevent. However, you can do your best to take care of your lips without wrapping a scarf over your mouth every time you go outside.

First off, avoid lipstick and lip gloss. Unless a special formula, they will dry out your lips. Vaseline does work, but you must rub it into your lips instead of smudging it on and letting it wear away. Drinking a lot of water is good for your lips, which absorbs some of the moisture. Sodas and fruit juices tend to leave sugar on your lips, drying them out. As far as I know, milk has no affect either way.

Well my lips used to get chapped all the time and I tried using vaseline since everyone told me it worked but it didnt for me. Use carmex, it really really works. Put it on atleast once a day and I can guarantee that before long your lips wont be chapped anymore.

If its cold or windy and you are licking you lips there gonna chap. They could also be chapping because of winter dry-Ness, it happens to every one. You just need to stay on top of it by applying moisturizers every day and lip balm every hour or so!
P.S. Make sure your not using a cheap brand of lip chap!
Best of luck! :)

Read about Cortibalm. I've had chronically dry peeling lips and this stuff is a miracle. After i recieved and used my samples, i bought them off ebay. it is a bit pricier than Chapstick but then again, this is no ordinary lipbalm. I found it after googling 'chronically peeling lips' because i was tired of using Chapstick and other brands that only gave me a headache from the smell and the feeling like i'm eating the stuff and them doing nothing to heal my lips.

This stuff lasts on your lips quite a while after you put it on but it never feels "greasy" although you can feel it on your lips. I had to throw away the Carmex after one use because it tasted and smelled so terrible and it seeped into my mouth making me cringe. The Cortibalm by Dr. Dan is virtually odorless, tasteless, so much better than Chapstick or anything else out there. I honestly cannot say enough about it.

It's also highly recommended for acne medication users such as Accutane who develop dry, peeling lips from the medication.

Send for a free sample and experience it for yourself. It's hard to believe i'm praising something as trivial as lip balm but when you've tried everything you know to heal your lips, you're so grateful to not have to peel off the flakes on your lips and them looking awful and painful.

As great as it is though, it is not a 'use it once and no more dry peeling lips, ever'. Just like a lotion you might use for your face or body, you have to use it regularly to maintain healthy lips, maybe more or less depending on the season or depending on the severity from medications or chemotherapy which can also cause dry lips.

You will be so glad to have found this. I've been raving about it to my whole family and even suggested to my sister to sell the lip balm on her overseas website store.

Try it !

your lips have a thin skin and don't produce their own moisture/oils like your skin does, so lips are more prone to dryness and chapping. In the winter it's worse with dry air zapping what little moisture you do have. Vaseline and NOT licking your lips will help them keep moist.

cold dry air and breathing through your mouth makes them dry also licking them. do you wear lipstick? it can help so much if you don't why not try just a gloss type lipstick. other than that use chapstick frequently throughout the winter months and esp. at bedtime you can use vaseline. hope you get some relief~

Every night before you go to bed put some chapstick, vasiline or even lip medicine to prevent and stop the problem.
