No, this is inbreeding and is forbidden by the AKC and CKC.

ANY stud dog is available to you, as long as your ***** is nice enough. You can do an artificial insemination from anywhere in the world.
You said - "There are no bad ones in these dogs to pull so I'm not worried there"
How do you know that? Have you known all the dogs 3 generations back and if they had any health problems? Have at least the last 2 generations had breed specific health testing like CERF, BAER, OFA, and cardiac clearances? Do you know all the littermates of the dogs in the last 3 generations and whether they had any health problems?
If you do not know ALL these things with the dogs you are working with, you are asking for trouble by doing it. A breeding as close as these are to be done ONLY by someone who REALLY knows her dogs pedigree, and being you are asking such a question on here, you do not.
JUST because your particular dogs haven't exhibitied a specific problem does NOT mean they are not carriers of the recessive genes!
The grandsire is better than the father, although not much, and I really wonder about the 'breeder' that told you such a thing.
And what great qualities are you hoping to double up on?
EDIT - Brother and sister is STILL inbreeding, WHY would that breeding be OK???

As far as you know there is no bad qualities. Never bred any dog back to the same blood line. Even if nothing shows up in the puppies you never know what will come out in the future puppies of those dogs. We are paying a price for this kind of breeding. Genetic health problems and thing like K-9 rage, I disorder that can cause a dog to go bad and attack for no reason.

Unless you are a VERY experienced breeder and have done ALL health clearances on BOTH dogs...DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is done and you CAN get good results, BUT you can get a whole litter of unhealthy crap. IF there are health problems....the spaniels have many...it can be doubled upon and produce severely effected offspring!!! Even long time breeders that have done this have gotten some horrible results. Think long and hard if it would be worth a whole litter of puppies that have to be euthanized or given away due to health problems.
You NEVER DO BROTHER AND SISTER!!!!!!
If you think there are NO bad qualities in either of these dog, you truly lack experience!!!!!! ALL dogs have bad qualities. Some just have more than others!

It is inbreeding and is very very bad for the puppies. I had a puppy that was a father to daughter breeding (I was told that it was linebreeding, not inbreeding) and I had to have that dog put to sleep at 2 1/2 years due to they genetic problems that she had. My vet said that it was because of such a close breeding that made her have the problem that she had and then to make it as sever as it was.

Line breeding is a science that shouldn't be "experimented" with. In fact, I don't think it should be done by anyone who doesn't have many years of experience. With sheep it's done with 1/2 siblings when the common parent is the line you want to continue. Never with a parent or a full sibling. Not something I would want any part of though. The best is to have totally non-related parents

It really depends on the bloodlines and the qualities of both dogs. Lots of breeders do father/daughter breeding's, grandfather-daughter breeding's, etc. Yes you MAY get some genetic problems, but not likely, especially if the bloodlines of both dogs are strong and without health problems. Provided the dogs are both Registered, do some research on the bloodlines, and see what kind of line breeding was done in the past. If both dogs have excellent health and qualities that you would like to produce again, I would do it! I have done close breeding's like this before (half brother, half sister) and had superb puppies with all the desireable qualities they were meant to have. It would really be based on the individual dogs and their pedigrees. Other then that, yes there are many reputable and experienced breeders that have done close linebreedings and been very successful. Best wishes!

NO, DON"T DO IT! The chances are soooo much higher of pulling some recessive defective traits because both animals would be carries of the gene. You would not see these defects, because most defects are recessive and the dominant traits would appear!

You can breed them but there is a chance that you will get birth defects or bad qualities (all dogs have some bad qualities even if they are nakkid to your eyes.)

Generally no because this is a form of inbreeding, making the offspring more suceptible to hereditary diseases and whatnot.
