In ancient Israel, “older men [elders] of Israel” represented and spoke for the entire nation. (Ex 3:16; 19:7) In the same way “elders” may stand for, or represent, the entire congregation of spiritual Israel. Therefore, the 24 elders seated on thrones about God might well represent the entire body of anointed Christians who, proving faithful till death, receive the promised reward of a heavenly resurrection and thrones near that of Jehovah. (Re 3:21) The number 24 is also significant, for this was the number of the divisions into which King David organized the priests to serve at Jerusalem’s temple. The anointed Christians are to be “a royal priesthood.”—1Pe 2:9; 1Ch 24:1-19; Lu 1:5-23, 57-66; Re 20:6;

The Book of Revelation nowhere specifically identifies who the twenty-four elders represent. One possible view that they represent the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve apostles. Others view the twenty-four elders as "representatives" of believers from all of time. Still others believe the twenty-four elders to be angelic creatures of some sort - seraphim or cherubim. Whatever the case, it is impossible to be dogmatic. The Bible simply does not give us enough information about the identity of the twenty-four elders.

I am uncertain, but the 24 elders could be the Twelve Apostles that Jesus had ordained during His mortality and the Twelve Apostles He ordained on the American continent as defined in the Book of Mormon.

This is simply a guess on my part.

Elders-Comparative of πρέσβυς presbus (elderly); older; as noun, a senior; specifically an Israelite Sanhedrist (also figuratively, member of the celestial council) or Christian “presbyter”: - elder (-est), old.

Because these Elders are in heaven after we Christians have been raptured, it won't be until we get there that we shall know who these Elders are.

Okay this is just a wild thought that I came up with, but I was pondering this and thought it might be the 12 sons of Jacob (the tribes of Israel) and the 12 disciples of Jesus (with Matthias replacing Judas of course)

12, from the OT, and 12 from the NT!

(Matthew 19:28) And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Minus JUDAS, and Replaced by PAUL, See Galatians 1:1

Thanks, RR

Who knows. The story was based on a dream, and should never have been included in the bible in the first place.
