I just bought an xbr sony 46inch lcd tv and heard about this clouding effect. Is thlis for real or should i reconsider not buying sony?

If you want to see it you must be in the dark room, try in the night and turn of the light, switch your TV to video (where the back ground all black) if your TV has the clouding effect you'll see white image like cloud usually in the corner side. This cause by the backlight that pass through the LCD layer and not all LCD have this problem just some.

The effect is for real. It only affects Sony LCD TVs with specific manufacture dates from this past fall. Sony will replace your unit for free with one that does not do it if you complain to them.
