Totally depends on the teenagers. Some are very mature at 13 or 14 and could handle watching a movie at home with adults in the house. Some may not be ready at 16. This is a conversation that needs to be discussed with all parties involved, but I would base it on whether or not the guy and girl are responsible people.
For example, how are the grades, do they do what parents ask, follow curfew, chores done, things of this nature would play a part in my decision.

Dating simply means to "get to know someone who may be a potential mate for you". There is no "set" age for things like this. All that is needed is maturity. I've met a 20 year olds woman with the maturity of a 32 year old; I've also met a 33 year old man with the maturity of an 18 year old. He didn't want to settle down, all he wanted was to have fun and screw around... to each his own. Just take it slow and don't rush anything. Date only people who have what it takes to make you a better person and don't deprive yourself of anything less than that; take your time and study, have a way in and a way out, don't get yourself in any situation that you can't get out of. Other people's qualities can have a great affect on our personality in both good and bad ways. Sorry for the looooong explanation but i hope this helps you out. Good luck.

depends on what you mean by date. If you mean couple, alone out for dinner and a movie, I think 16 is reasonable. If you mean a group of couples at the bowling alley, or the mini golf course, or even the family basement watching movies on the big screen, I would be alright with my 15 year old doing that. Anything younger, is just too young.

I think 16-17 is a good age. Letting your child going somewhere completely chaperoned is fine at a younger age, but you have to make sure you know who is all going. Anything younger is really playing with fire. All I think about is, do I want to protect her but allow her to have fun, or just be the cool mom and all of sudden her life is turned upside down by a mistake? Think about if they can handle it emotionally, etc. Remember it also depends on how mature the person is too.

I wasn't allowed to date until I was 16 years old and my children will not date until 16 either. So I think 16 is a good age.

dating used to be for people who were thinking about getting married. 15/16..should be thinking about education. stay in a group if you need to date that young.
