The Pesians celebrated this day as the birth of Mithras, a warrior who did many things and said many of the same things Jesus said, just a few centuries earlier.
The Greeks attributed this day as Dionysus's birthday. He, and a few other Gods, sacrificed themselves for humanity's sake. Once again, Jesus was a repeated act.
The Egyptians had Osirus, who went the way of Dionysus.
The Romans had Attis, a man who was nailed to a tree to ask the Gods' mercy on humans. This day was also Saturnalia, a harvest festival for the God Saturn.
Many other cultures also recognized this day as a holy day, because of the winter solctice.
