no it's not but if you have to have the surgical operation make sure you find a good doctor and a good hospital make sure they know you are anemic so they can put a IV with special meds in you to help thicken your blood for the operation

Usually surgeons will not perform an elective operation if you have anemia. They my want to give you some blood or give you time to regenerate. They may want to know why you are anemic before any surgery is done.

Need more info what type sugery and dose the dr know this can be life threating it he dose not depending on the sugery
