i guess most would agree it's not painful. well this was, it was like it was so extreme it hurt. when i at some point put my hand on my jaw/neck area it was hard as a rock and swollen about the size of an egg! i have never heard of anything like this happening. in case it matters, i used to be one that loved sour stuff. over the years i have stopped "craving" it as i used to.
this was close to 2 hours ago... the swelling is down tho not gone, when i touch it, it ranges from a little bit tender to almost tickle-ish.
i so hope someone can share some knowledge about this.

Maybe you are allergic to the acid in the grapefruit. You could see an allergist. You may be allergic to the vitamin C. I am. I cannot eat oranges as they give me a sore throat. I am also allergic to pears, and I love them. I found out I am allergic to more foods than I thought. You may have to stay away from citric acid foods.

I ate something else once and my throat swelled up and I started coughing and coughing. I now have to carry an epi pen just in case I ever have an allergic reaction to anything and my breathing becomes labored. That reaction lasted for me a few hours.

sometimes extreme tastes can cause our muscles to tense up, it's involuntary, like a reflex. Sounds like that might have happened to you. You may have strained some jaw muscles as well. Take some ibuprofen and ice your jaw a few times and it should be better by tomorrow. And lay off the grapefruit!
