I'm in a bad situation. We've been together 6 months but her dad is completely against me. I don't know what to do about it, and it's not easy trying to hide it. It would be a great help if someone knew anything about what the laws are. Can I get in trouble with the police? Can her dad get me arrested? Any advice? Her dad wants to send her away to Colorado for the summer because of me. It's a terrible situation. Help?

There's nothing wrong with dating her, as long as you don't have sex with her. Then, you can get charged with rape. Otherwise, is there anything wrong?

Don't listen to anybody who says that you are going to get into trouble for dating her. You CANNOT get into trouble unless you have sex with her. Then and ONLY then will you get into trouble for statutory rape. Everyone else has no idea what the are talking about. When me and my boyfriend got together I was 16 and he was 19. There are no laws on a minor dating someone over 18 as long as the couple is not having sexual intercourse. If her dad tells the police that he has PROOF that the two of you are having sexual relations then yeah you could get arrested. If you are afraid of what her dad might do then just make sure that you are never alone with her in a closed room. If her dad doesn't trust you then give him reasons to trust you. Also, I know it could be a bit scary but maybe you and your girlfriend should sit down with her dad and try to talk to him!!!!!!!!!!!

That sucks really bad. My first and most important piece of advice is that if you enjoy life and freedom, do not have sex with her no matter how much you and/or she may want to. Don't even let it get close (once things get to a certain point, it gets even harder to say no). Even if she agrees to have sex with you, she is still a minor and you are still an adult in the eyes of the law and that is considered stagetory rape. You will end up in jail and then you will have to register as a sex offender which is something that will follow you for the rest of your life. Just don't do it! If you listen to nothing else, listen to that!
As far as continuing any kind of relationship with her, it's a sensitive issue. The only thing that I can think of is to back off for a little while. If you voluntarily back off, he won't send her to Colorado. In the mean time, work like heck proving yourself worthy to his daughter. Enroll in college, work hard and get good grades. Get a part time job so that you can start saving money and somewhat supporting yourself. Stay out of trouble and don't be getting mixed up with any other girls. Dare I say, even go to a local church, find some religion. Then after you have managed to do all this, you can come back into her life and talk to her father man to man and let him know how much she means to you. Tell him what you have done all to make yourself worthy of his daughter and that you only want whats best for her. I'm sure that this man just loves his daughter and only wants what's best for her. If you can show him how hard you are working and that you are staying out of trouble, then maybe he will see the good man that you are and let you date his daughter so long as you continue all the work that you have done. Even if it doesn't work out that way, you will still be well on your way to becoming an independant, moral, hardworking man. Those qualities are attractive to most women. And your girl will love you for it all. Good Luck!

In the State of Georgia you would be in like flint because 16 is as low as you can go. I don;t know what State your in, but check your statuatory laws before you and her decide to sack up together. If the age of consent is 16 in your State, there's nothing her Father can do if she consents to you, but keep in mind that she is still living with her parents and until she turns 18 and moves out on her own, she has to abide by what Dad said and if he say;s no meeting with you it's a tuff cookie.
Now if the age of consent is 17 in your State and you already slept with her in bed...Daddy has you by the balls.
I would chill out dude!!

Okay. Sorry to break it to you. She is a minor, you are an adult. In the eyes of the law you are commiting statutory rape, and can very well be charged with a crime. If her dad is against you, the only option you have is to wait until she turns 18. I know it sucks, but if you really love her and she loves you, then you guys will just have to wait.

You might want to check with your state laws because in certain states it is statutory rape and you can be jailed.

If I were you since her dad is not happy with you...I wouldn't even want to bark up that tree....you can land yourself in great trouble. Do you want to be sex offender that you will have to register yourself and you'll have difficulity obtaining a job and a place to live?

Why take that chance? I know if my daughter was dating an older boy and I didn't like him...I would go ahead and push forth with legal proceedings...even if my daughter was 17 I'd still do that.

The fact that you are a legal adult and she is a minor makes it illegal. Secondly, as a minor living in her parents home she has to follow their wishes. Moral of the story: Date a girl that is 18+ or wait for her to turn 18 then she can move out and you guys can be together.

Check the statutory rape laws in your state. Sometime 18 is the age of consent, and some places it isn't. The MUCH larger problem is why her dad doesn't approve of you. Start spending time trying to get his approval. For everyone sake, don't have sex with her.....

Your at a difficult position in life! We use to refer to girls under 18 as jail bait! Your 18, no longer a minor! Adults and minores are not permitted to have sex! Yes you may end up in a legal mess depending on your state!
