Unfortunately, unless you can manage to sell it privately, you're unlikely to get back very much of what you put into it. Anywhere that buys it will have to resell it as used, and they'll want to make their profit on it.
I had a small gold a diamond ring that I tried to sell - it was someone's "promise ring" at one time and had a very small diamond in it. I was told that her boyfriend at the time paid a couple of hundred for it (though that may have been inflated). The diamond turned out to be chipped, but the jewellery store/pawn shop (they sell new and used there) said they'd pay $5 for the gold. More than a little disappointing...
I'm sure you've got better quality stuff, but I wouldn't hope for much. One warning though - be careful if you're advertising in the paper - I remember hearing of one guy who advertised a diamond ring, and the "buyer" was a theif...

Pawn shops won't give you much, but it's worth a shot. Some jewelry stores (not big chains like Kay or Zales) will buy it back for the going rate of gold/diamonds. You'd have to contact them directly. Also, try craigslist. you can list it there for free. Some people are jewelry "dealers" and look for diamonds and sets. You probably won't get what it's worth, but you should be able to get some money out of it. Best of luck.

Probably not. Jewelry is marked up more than 50% but why don't you try some jewelry shops if you haven't already? Or advertise in your newspaper? My sister finally had the diamond from her engagement reset for a necklace.

no i imagine you should hawk both your previous earrings and be done with it. and why are you going to renounce you funds for your engagement ring anyhow? placed aside offending him with funds out of your ex ring and imagine about how offended he will be in case you supply him earnings any respect to purchase you an engagement ring! that's something he's meant to shelter. i'd hawk the hoop and searching on how a lot they are nicely worth, pay off some debts or placed it in the route of a house or something like that to commence your adult men lifes off correct.
