Know your target....study her, find out what she likes and what lights her up. Private ladies prefer privacy, drama queens want lights, cameras, witnesses and frills. Romantics want stories to remember and retell...the horse and buggy in Central Park etc.
Plan something which will make a treasured memory for you both. KEEP YOUR PLANS SECRET! At the right moment, say three things: how you feel about her, what you hope for your future together, and darling, will you marry me?
best wishes,
cryllie

Do you mean, what is a good way to propose? Or are you talking about simply finding out if this person would even consider marry you? I tend to feel that by the time you are proposing "formally", you should already know the answer will be yes - so you have to talk about it in advance, and make sure you two are on the same page. The details of the formal proposal depend entirely on what you think her expectations are. Try to meet or exceed these expectations.

Romantically, let her/him know how much you really care. Who them with sensual romance. Be so gentle and kind they want more! Then after the "pre proposal", ask the big ?. Be sweet, don't just say, "will you marry me?" lead them up to it, like, "oh i knew from the first moment i saw you, that i wanted to spend the rest of my life with you." I would be so happy if some1 said that to me, i'd cry for hours, lol. Good luck, you'll do fine. Oh and ps, location, location, location, pick somewhere you'll never forget.

Start by asking her family. Then get a ring. My boyfriend then gave me that ring in a christmas gift with my family all around. Oh and they knew what was in my box.
