Or does it now sound wrong?

And before someone says it; these men were still shot for being frightened. Ok, they *called* it 'not doing their duty'/desertion, but it was still being shot for being terrified. Just imagine doing it to women to see how vile it really is.

You'll never know the situation this happened in.

let's use an example of when you may think it was right;

You're in a group of twenty men. You're hiding to keep out of thier view and want to survive the day, along with your 19 buddies. You're also very low on ammo, outnumbered 10 to 1 and the enemy is closing in. The way the day has transpired, they are killing everyone in thier path. One guy is freakining out screaming and begins walking toward the enemy force. If he is found, you will be as well. What do you do?

It's never 'right' to kill anyone, but is it wrong to be killed and let others die for the sake of one man's life?

The justification behind this lies in the theory that by refusing to do their duty they are endangering the lives of the other soldiers and their mission. Right or wrong, I don't know.
