its loss of melanin which causes you to get grey hair as you grow older. the causes can be stress, but its just part of you life everyone gets grey hair, some sooner than others.

As you get older, your cells die faster than your body can replace them and your body is slower at working for itself and there is less and less melanin in your scalp, which is what produces the color in your hair, so your color fades and fades until it is gone
