A 12 year old girl came on here asking if people thought she was fat. She was only 12, 5'3'' and 125lbs. Now that's healthy. Her bmi was 22.1 which is what it should be. People then said she needed to lose 15lbs because she was chubby! Adults coming on here telling a TWELVE year old she should lose so much weight that she would end up underweight. What is the world coming to when children worry about being tubby and adults tell them they should do all these different exercises. I agree obesity is a problem but a 12 year old hasn't even reached maturity. Am I being a too over the top thinking this? Sometimes I do get a bit miffed with other people's answers, I think I should chill out a bit!

I agree with teens seeing beautiful thin models on adverts, but someone that weight would be thin. If she was overweight or obese then it would be ok for people to tell her how to lose the weight but she wasn't. I think this could eaily lead someone into being anorexic. I'm not overweight by the way, I just hate healthy girls being told to lose some weight.

I don't quite get the one that says stop feeding your kids so much. The point here is that the 12 year old was NOT fat! and I think it's a bit irresponsible to call her that. Very irresponsible actually. I don't need to worry about my kids being fat anyway, they are following their dad being tall and a bit too thin. Personally that worries me, not being able to put on weight no matter how much they eat. If they were ever seriously ill they wouldn't have the weight to lose, if you get what I mean. It's better being a bit chubby than underweight, nothing wrong with a bit of chubbyness in a child.

Christ almighty 9 stone is not fat! bloody hell. Check with what health professionals tell you a bmi of 22.1 is HEALTHY. If the worlds health professionals are saying this then people should listen to the people who know what they are talking about. Do you know that Mariah Carey is 11 stone? is she fat, no. Muscle also weighs more than fat, so a professional swimmer might be called fat if they just put their weight down without a picture being shown.

I completely agree with you i suffered from anorexia from the age of 12 because i had puppy fat and was called thunder thighs by someone. Children are so sensitive at that age and adults should know better, i am now 20 and i am seeking advice n how to put on half a stone (7lb) just so i am not under weight anymore.
People in this world need to stop focusing on how perfect you need to look but on how to be healthy and be happy with yourself, i blame magazines and television for these problems.

Well I think it's very rude and disrespectful for people to comment on other peoples' (especially childrens') weight. I have also heard of something like that- I'm not sure about her weight, but she did eat a meal almost every hour that I saw her.
Also it may have seemed extreme- you can't be sure of that person's diet- weight displays very little about eating habits. For example- my cousin is like that- he doesn't way much at all- hes about her age and weighs around 100. But I've never seen him eat a healthy snack! the only good thing is dinner....
Children don't need to worry about weight or growing up to be overweight. your right about that. I think it would be more reasonable if you knew more about the situation. Still- they are being rude.
the answer is no

it may be stable in case you have gotten a private coach, like in case you joined a well being club. If it is not an option, then confer with the well being club instructor in college. you're able to do each and every of the exercising you pick, yet once you're intaking a great number of empty energy, the exercising won't provide help to get toned. So decrease the candy bars, soda, cookies out of your weight loss application. i did no longer say you had to consume much less--you could consume as much as you pick--of healthful, low-sugar/fat ingredients. you pick energy, because of the fact your physique is growing to be, and you will initiate getting your top quickly. merely no longer candy/cookie/soda energy. finally, do no longer take any of the over the counter weight alleviation products. Esp for a 12 yo youngster, they are in a position to be risky. in case you experience you pick drugs help, talk on your dr., and that they are in a position to prescribe something to help. TX mom

Its looking at beautiful thin women in advertisements,TV Movies, everywhere else...This why she is asking about her weight..Its the STAR IMAGE that she was thinking just like every other female when thinking about their weight.....
If you are her Mom, It would be wise to have a chat about SELF ESTEEM and accepting the fact she doesn't have to be the perfect weight unless she is competing in a Beauty Padget and not ask such questions on Yahoo.
Its important for young girls to accept who they are, and their goals should be "healthy" and not "Thin".. And many people have different concepts and opinions the difference between the two.
BTW : It would be nice to link the question so we can read what you are very angry about. I'm speaking from an opinion only, but if someone was rude.... It would be nice to determine if you really are being worried about nothing...

I agree. At 12 little girls are just noticing their bodies and to tell one that she is chubby is a BIG mistake. If you think a child is a bit chubby get them into some kind of sport. My children are on the slim side and both are in karate. Some of the answers on here make me angry too.

Well you should answer the question telling her that they lie! You can also downrate the answers that are telling such things when you get to level 2 on Yahoo! Answers.
Some people enjoy the anonymity of the internet too much.
Keep keeping those 12 year olds safe ;)

That is a completely normal weight. I myself was at that exact weight, even a couple more pounds, and once I hit puberty, I grew a ton and shed lots of pounds. Now I am healthier than ever and have never had any health problems.

It really hurts kids' self esteem, that's for sure. I just saw a girl post her height and weight as 5'4" 118 pounds and call herself "not skinny" so that will make a whole bunch of teens who are that height and weigh more think that they're fat and should go on a diet.

EMILY Animosity generally doesn't do anything for a person's courage. Hee Hee. I'm no language expert but that did make me chuckle.
With regards to the question, I agree it is disgraceful that kids should feel under pressure, unless they are obese and suffering medical problems of course.

I agree with you in he sense of adults telling her that. I also have a 12 year old that actually weighs more than she does, and I do realize that it is unhealthy for him. I was over weight as a child also, I am hopein that he will grow out of it as well.
