I've never seen that in the translations I've read.

So...no. It is not in the Biblical text.

No. Nor does it claim that men have one rib less than women. There is another edition of the Bible that says that man and woman were created at the same time. This edition is rarely, if ever, used because it differs from the one that is in common use. I have a copy and it differs from the commonly used Bible in many ways. Genesis has several variations. So does Noah and the ark, etc.

No, the Bible says that Eve was created from a rib taken from Adam. Men would have no less ribs as lossing a rib does not mean that your children will not have the same number as normal. Lame......

NO,
i fell into this false doctrine and my mother who is an athiest reproved me.
except when i was taught this doctrine, and the absurdity, it was Adam who was missing a rib.
Adam did have a missing rib, and Eve was created with the exact amount of ribs needed to have life. All men and women have the same number of ribs throughout history.
the only thing i can think of that denies this statement is that it is possible for only a very Few to be born with birth defects.

Ah ha so that's where tha missing link went. The evolutionist were right all along they have finally found the missing link. So it was taken from man and now woman has one more rib than man does. You know that's one way to tell a woman's skeleton from a mans isn't it a woman has one more rib than a man. She must have the bible say so and the Bible is the word of God isn't it. Idiot. xx

NO.

It only says, that a rib was taken from Adam to make Eve. It does not say that the rib was replaced (which it probably was), however the "reason" she was made from a rib was to be "equal" to Adam. That is to be "by his side as a helpmate." Not to be from his head and lord over him, or from his feet and be a footstool. So, by being from his side, she was equal and worthy of him.

No. The Bible states that God made woman out of one of Adam's ribs. This is representatiove of a woman standing next to the man -- at his side, not behind him nor in front of him, symbolically indicating that she is not to rule over him nor be a slave to him, but protected at his side.

I'm not sure they say that explicitly, but it is implied from one of the genesis stories. However, it's not true - women and men have the same number of ribs.

God came to Adam one day and said,"I will make you the most BEAUTIFULL and elegant creature you could ever set your eyes upon. This creature will be yours, and l;ove and cherish you throughout all your days, all I need is your right hand and left foot."

Adam turned to God and said,"eh, that's alittle steep, what can I get for a rib."

Jokes aside I like how Karen H put it. God did not intend women to be LOWER than men, we are equal, and there is my proof.

But I still like my joke.

I do not get that from the scriptures; but I have heard that is one way coroner's can tell the sex of a person. Perhaps someone here can confirm/deny that possibility to me soon via email.
