Is there something in human nature (our hormones) that compells us to seek multiple partners durring this time in our lives or is it simply something of artificial origins that triggers one to commit such acts? Best answer must speak with logic and experience. Good sources would be nice too.

while this behavior may be widely practiced, I cringe at the thought of it being "normal." Just because a lot of people do it doesn't make it a normal thing. I'm all about having fun, but I'm also about integrity and honesty. If you're intrested in casually dating other people, you shouldn't be in a committed relationship. So no, definitely not normal.

Men like to cite "nature" to excuse their cheating, but it is NEVER normal to cheat.
Maturity brings commitment at higher levels, which is why it is a bad idea to marry young. If there is a relationship, and the grass looks greener elsewhere, the relationship must be dissolved before seeking a new one.
Then there is no NEED to cheat.

Normal? Cheating is never normal unless of course you believe in the theory that man is an animal and it is normal for animals to breed with many as opposed to one. However I believe that those that cheat do so because they are not truly committed to one person. they think they are and their significant other may think they are, but rarely is that true these days. Mostly because they are in a relationship out of need not out of true love.

So while cheating is considered common, it is hardly a normal function of life.

think back to the old ages. God made man as a hunter. So man hunted. God gave you the drive so that you would hurry home to your wife- remember man did not live long then, so the drive is for young men. Women do not have the drive because if they did- while their man was out hunting, they would grab any man, rather than wait for their man to get him. That is why men are the way they are, and women are the slower to get excited. Men are microwaves, women are slow cookers.

Here age has nothing to do with it.It is normal of course, but that just depends from the personality and love between the partners!
