At this point in my life, being as young and immature as I am, I think that all I am capable of, is to be friends. True love is built on friendship first- so who knows?...at a later time it may lead to something more- but for now- let's keep the friendship as it is.

Don't use the old 'I am scared it will ruin our friendship' line.....
I've been told that it was was worse than being told I was ugly and that the bulge in my pants is too small!
If you have built a friendship with him, that line will make him feel like that friendship is what he did wrong in approaching you.

Instead, tell him you want to continue building the friendship and spend time together, and go from there

Tell him the truth. Be honest cause if you say yes just because you don't want to hurt him....you are gonna end up hurting him more in the end. Tell him that you don't want to ruin your friendship with him cause you value what you guys have....and by dating you fear that you could possibly ruin that! Good luck!
