There is a risk to stopping Wellbutrin abruptly. You could have seizures. If you want to stop it, it would be best to taper it over a at least a few days to a week. Most of the time you are better of tapering off medication. As far as stopping the Abilify, there is definitely a risk that the voices will come back.
I don't know your diagnosis, but my guess is that it is Bipolar with psychotic features or schizoaffective. Both of these illnesses have a high rate of exacerbations without maintenance medications. The trouble with that is that subsequent episodes tend to be more severe and harder to treat and you do not always return to baseline functioning.
Please see your doctor and talk to him about your desire to reduce the amount of medications. Only he knows your history and the risks involved. If you are not happy with your doctor, seek a second opinion.
Good Luck!

I was on wellbutrin for about 3 months. It made me fat and lethargic. I chose to stop taking it and I eventually grew out of my psychosis on my own. I have heard, however, that head problems may come back suddenly if you stop taking it. Maybe you should have a trusted family member or friend keep an eye on you and decide (promise) that if they notice a decline then you will go back on it. By the way... did you know that Zyban (the stop smoking pill) is the same as wellbutrin (I discovered that it made my ciggs taste funny before they did.)

Well when I stopped taking Wellbutrin I switched to Effexor and nothing bad happened to me, but that is me and not all meds work the same for everyone. I beg you to tell you doctor. However, I would also be candid about how you feel now and how you felt while you were taking the meds. I sorry but I never took abilify. I also heard voices, but I also saw things and dreamed things you wouldn't want to. Another problem was the ability to tell dreams from being awake.

you will crash and go psycho again trust me been there done that a few too many times. If u run out of your meds u can always call your Dr most Dr's have samples they can give u in the time being. if its an insurance issue u can always go to welfare or city welfare and they are suppose to help people get medication trust me people will help you they would rather see you take your meds then to have to deal with the aftermath down the road. hospital stay's are timely and expensive and that is where you might end up. as for what u might expect. i remember welbutrin i got headaches and didn't feel well in the morning. but that was just me. i also felt better when i went off them more clear headed but trust me u need these meds if the Dr is saying you do. I hope you go to get your meds and get back on them asap.

wellbutrin is a pretty mild AD, but you should never stop any AD cold turkey like that. You really should be honest to your dr.
Effexor is a more powerful one...you relaly shouldn't be experimenting with these drugs and stopping and starting them or it could cause really bad side effects.
Come clean to your dr. before you get sick.

You really shouldn't mess around with those types of meds without your doctor's input. What happens with those drugs is the build up gradually in your system, so at 6 weeks, you would have just started feeling the effects of it, so that's probably why you feel so good right now. Eventually you probably will crash and if you don't do it under a doctor's supervision, you can become suicidal or homicidal, so please be careful.

I am not a professional but I have been on antidepressents before and I was always told that you should never stop cold turkey you should always stop using them slowly and cut back on them not just stop....your body may be in shock and that is why you feel better??? Im not sure but I do think that you should tell your doctor

Remember when they told you that the medicine will take a few weeks to start working? Well, it takes it few weeks to stop working, after stopping it, as well. So, yes there is still a chance that you would go all psycho again. If you are having problems with your medicine, discuss it with your Doc, but do not stop it or change it on your own.

Wellbutrin will bring on seizures in some people.
Please, please tell your doctor of all the drugs you are on! Know one is psycho, this is a word the general public uses when one has mental disorders and is said in a bad way. Psycho is a movie not a mental disorder, read up.
Please tell you doctor of all mind altering drugs you are on. Wellbutrin being one of these drugs. If you are on any street drugs tell the doctor of this too, these can mirror a true mental disorder and can actually lead to mental disorder. Doctors are unable to tell anyone without a court order of your reason for treatment. Against the law here in the USA. A doctor by legal rights has to alert the DMV is a seizure has occurred.
Again go back to your doctor and tell him/her everything you are taking...Your health is very important!
