I am a Christian. I believe the Bible is Gods word. I am no better or worste than anyone else. But I have noticed that many other "Christians" are very, VERY judgemental, rude, and lacking in knowladge of the Bible or scientific fact. Do you realize how much this can hurt the Church of Christ? This only gives non-believers all the ammo they need to shoot down Christianity, and call us naive hypocrites. This is why the Bible tells us to be either hot or cold, not lukewarm, and Jesus himself said that the greatest thing for us to do is love, not prove we are right. Love is what allows the Holy Spirit to work through you, not your own intellect. Please, open your Bibles if you do not already do so and read through the New Testament. (again?) God bless all, and keep on praying for the Church as a whole.

Darks: I know that non-Christians experience love...that's not what I meant.

Jeffrey: By Church of Christ I did not mean a specific denomination; maybe I should have said "body of Christ".

Historically the Bible has been greatly abused to alienate, oppress, segregate and discriminate against others. Bigots and Racist use it in the ugliest of ways. It's caused death and destruction by so called Christian leaders thumbing the bible in their hands while terrible things happened to others.

I don't believe the Bible is God's word. But the interpretation of God's word. None of the injustices that have been done to His people could have been committed in His name had the bible been interpreted in His words.

We need to pray that any christian leader who quotes the Bible as a means of alienating, discriminating, denying rights or privileges or oppressing people of any nation should be walked away from by the people listening.

With all due respect and love, the Bible was never meant to subvert the role of the only Church that was ever personally founded by Jesus Christ for our salvation.

The root of the problem lies with the fact that half of Christianity actually believes the Bible tells them to act in opposition to God's one, true church, while much of the other half has forgotten for what the Church truly stands.

Atheists and non-Christians aren't idiots, and they know there's much confusion, disingenuousness, and disunity present in todays Church.

And a simple re-reading of the Bible isn't going to resolve the problem.

Prayer, coupled with lots of practical, Christian action is going to be required to fix this mess ... a mess for which God will most certainly hold all of us accountable.

You have my love and prayers.

WOW THANK YOU! your SOOOO right, especially your hot or cold point... so good! I can't even fathom why any "christian" would get the idea they are better than people.... wow... and it's so sad that only real Christians will ever know if they are real or not... that's why now it's even more important to be HOT for God!
hahaha awesome

We have to lead by our actions, and show God's love in extreme ways, only then can people see God's real side.

God bless..

I tend to agree with you. However, as I read the comment/question; a figurative bell went off regarding something you said. 'Church of Christ', is what set the bell off. I use to be a deacon in it. I have 'thanked God I left it, and kicked myself for now not doing it sooner.
To make sure we are talking the same general group, let me ask the following questions.

Does it permit instrumental music?
Does it require each congregation to be 'independent'?
Does baptism require submersion in water?

I could go on; but will stop there for now.

The world needs more Christians like you.

If every Christian took the best of what Jesus taught and put it to use, the world would be a better place. Jesus led by example, Christians should too.

You will know a tree by the fruit.

Our walk will speak volumes over anything we could ever say.

Have you ever read from Jude to Matthew? Try it...it's a true blessing! So many nuggets we as Christians need!

That's right. Christians can be judgemental, rude and lacking in Biblical knowledge and common sense. Thank God God doesn't zap us, he loves us with all our faults and yes sins. Christianity is not about christians and their sins or their holiness, it's about the holiness of Christ.
