I am thinking about doing this as I have just one three year old home now. (other 2 in school). Also, I have a previous teaching degree, was a pre-school teacher.
And it would help to know the general area you live in, to compare with my mid Ohio area. Thanks!

For starters, I would have a weekly rate for full time children and a separate rate (a bit higher) for part time children. If someone registers for occasional care, I would charge up to $30 for the day, and $20 for 3 hours or less. I would charge the occasional rate for anyone who commits to only 1 day per week.

I would start by calling around to other daycares in my area to find out what the going rate is. I live in WNY state and pay $125 for an 18 month old for 5 days. I also pay even when he is not there. My provider has other paid staff who get paid whether I am there or not. I do get a weeks worth of "vacation" time each year and know well in advance when she cannot take my son due to personal obligations or appointments of her own. This is very important to me since I may need to arrange other care for my baby.

I have only had her call off sick once and it was not a problem. She was very ill and I ended up keeping him out for a week so she had time to recover. I did not pay for this week and she was greatful for the chance to get well. Being an at home daycare takes flexibility and compromise. Remembering that even in a black and white world there is always room for compromise. If something comes up and I need to leave him there a little later than scheduled, I will pick him up a little early another day. I love my provider and so does my son. Even though she is a personal friend, this is her business and her livelihood and we respect that.

I am not sure about Ohio but here in Western NY a legitimate at home daycare is regulated by the state health department. This costs money too so that has to be taken into consideration. Also I pay a one time a year "arts & crafts fee" of $25 for supplies and such. In my opinion in home daycare is more valuable than a formal daycare. I find it more personal.

My provider enjoys the tax breaks of having an in home business although I am not sure exactly what those are. I know she has a tax number and has to pay taxes quarterly. At the end of the year you provide your tax number and the amount paid (by each parent) to each parent.

I hope this information helps!! Best of luck to you!!

i does not learn about all this when you consider that i'm neither a mom or a housewife, yet basically a operating spouse, yet i'd opt for to share somewhat survey i have study interior the newspaper right here in eire. They interrogated countless females about the dep. of chores between them and their husband. and placed out that the 50/50 sort remains not in position. They then printed some debts through a number of the females who replied the survey. and that is the position i have talked about it. the females who claimed to divide them 50/50 with the husband were all operating moms, no exception the females who declared the husband did some yet they did maximum of them were all section-time operating moms the females who claimed they did all of them and the husband did not something were all stay-at-domicile moms. The newspaper did not communicate about that truth. they basically reported equality wasn't quite there yet. I basically idea that truth became exciting. i do not do any of those projects wide-spread. after I come domicile from artwork at 2 am, the perfect problem I wanna do is the dishes. So i can absolutely comprehend how a house would get messy. I basically imagine if I were a housewife i'd get so bored out of my wits i'd commence cleansing for authentic. actual i recognize i'd. I spent 3 months in complete isolation once and that i can say my domicile became genuinely spotless for the forged reason that I had not something else to do. can not imagine it may well be an same with youthful ones though...

in home in my area was 200 dollars a week for my toddler and my school age child after school. we only did it for a few weeks though because my toddler accused the daycare ladies son of touching her inappropriately, her doctor agreed that something had happened, but that it was probably a case of innocent exploration. Either way my daughter was uncomfortable being there so i quit my job and stayed home.

I though 200 dollars for the toddler full time and the school age child part time was very reasonable. I live in Minnesota.

I live in michigan and I run a licensed home daycare.

I charge 2.50 per hour per child.

If they have more than one child I will give htem a discount but only if they are both full time.

They don't have to pay for food or any other expenses. They only have to bring there own diapers, wipes and baby food/formula.
