WOW, that resolution didn't last long.
My husband smoked for years. All the nagging in the world wouldn't faze him. The he had a heart problem and a near death surgery. He never even had a desire to smoke again. It scared him.
Bringing our 5 children up and in their teens their 33 yr.old close cousin died a hard death of lung cancer due to smoking. That made a big impression on my children and smoking has never been a problem.
Our cases are personal and the real commitment to quit has to be there, if its not, take her to a cancer ward and visit with lung cancer patients. That should make an impression. She has to really want to quit. Its not worth the risk.
My son says he just as soon kiss a dirty ashtray as a woman that smokes.
Good Luck to her and Bless you for loving her so much. She has to do it for herself. She may need to take some inventory of what she has to live for.
~~~~~Have a good year~~~~
You're very kind to care so much about your sister -- I hope she appreciates it! Smoking is like any addiction, though; nothing you say or do can help your sister kick this habit. All you can do is make your feelings known and encourage her. For instance, even though she didn't make it through her resolution, tell her that you think it's great she's trying, not to give up even though she didn't last long this time, and that it takes most smokers several attempts before they quit for good.
Tell her that you love her and care about her and you want her to stay healthy. Try not to nag or admonish -- you'll only upset yourself and it doesn't help. Ask you sister if she would like to join a support group for people who are trying to quit. You might call your local hospital or Lung Association office and find out the days/times of the support group first, so you have the info handy when you mention it to her. Good luck and above all, remember that ultimately it's up to your sis.
Hi,
I quit this time last year having had a 30 a day habit. I'd tried and failed with allsorts until I a friend recommended this program - see below.
It also came with a 100% money back guarantee and has a 90% success rate - can't say fairer than that!
All the best.
take her to a retirement home and ask residents using oxygen
if they ever smoke. Most will answer yes then ask her if she
would like to be like them.
SORRY, AS A SMOKER MYSELF. ITS NOT EASY AND YOU REALLY HAVE TO WANT TO QUIT. AND NO ONE CAN FORCE YOU OR SAY ANYTHING. IT JUST MAKES ME DO IT MORE. WHEN SHE REALLY GETS TIRED OF SMOKING SHE WILL SO DON'T PRESSURE HER INTO IT. AND DON'T SAY ANYTHING WHEN YOU SEE HER SMOKING, UNLESS SHE TELLS YOU TOO. BUT REALLY ITS UP TO HER. I TRIED THE GUM, THE PATCH, AND THEY DIDN'T WORK. FOR ME BECAUSE I'M JUST NOT READY TO.
There is only one way to stop. She has to want to. Really want to.
