My 2 year old did his potty training just after he turned 2 in june and was dry during the day for months but in the last month hes stopped going to the toilet or using his potty and hides somewhere to wet himself. Any ideas to get back out of nappies?

What's changed? Regression is normal, especially if he is feeling stressed about something. You might not even realise that he is upset. Sometimes children overhear things and put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5 pink sheep and a fairy hamster and then get very worried about something (e.g. Mum says on phone to Grandma "So we'll come later in the year and see you in Dunoon" and child hears "... see your dragon" and then you say to them "We're going to see Grandma next week" and they start worrying about meeting the dragon!)
See if you can work out if he is worried about something and in the meantime just start your potty training again. He is probably hiding to wet himself because he knows that makes you upset. DO NOT LET IT GET TO YOU. You are not upset, disappointed or sad when he wets himself. Just say "whoops, lets get you changed" and be matter of fact about it.

Don't give up!! Try not to encourage him by putting him back in a nappy. Boys can be very lazy. If he has an accident don't say anything to him. Just clean him up and carry on. Always make sure the potty is where he can see it and ask him regulary if he needs to go. Good luck.

Really shouldn't have reintroduced the nappies, now he knows that using a potty is not essential. Just take the nappies away and persevere with the training.

He isnt truly ready for regular pants . I had the same problem as mine would use it in the daytime but i had to pen several on him(back then we used cloth diapers(nappies) as you call them. I think he was just too afraid to get up in the middle of the night. He will out grow this just be patient with him.

My sister has just had the same problem with her daughter so she called in a health visitor who checked her daughter out, she said this happens sometimes, give it a few weeks then try starting again but also try putting ordinary underwear on her underneath pull-ups so she can feel the wetness.

Don't put him in diapers... that's just encouraging him to go in his pants. He's winning this battle. You need to figure out why he has stopped using the toilet.
