I just got a 7 week old kitten yesterday. She is so cute and sweet and I love her to death. But when my husband and I went to bed last night she would not let us sleep long. We went to bed around 9:30 and let her come sleep with us. She did go to sleep fast but woke me up at 11:30. I got up with her and took her to her food (she can get to it without me but I still took her to it) and she ate a little food and some water and the I took her to her littler box and she didn't need to go, so I played with her for about 30 mins and we went back to bed. She falls asleep again and so did I. But at 2:00 my husband woke up to the cat playing with MY hair (I didn't wake up to it but he did) lol. At that time I didn’t' get up with her I just rolled over and tried to keep her away from my husband (he had to get up at 5am to work I get to stay home and we don't have kids so he needed the sleep I can always take a nap). Well I feel back asleep and she did as well.

Then I woke up at 4:55 and could not find her. Until my husband rolled over and I herd her yelp. She was sleeping next to him kind of under his pillow. So I took her and again rolled over. Then the alarm went off at 5:00 and we all got up, she ate and went to the bathroom and then played a little and went back to sleep. She is sleeping on my lap right now as I type this. Also, when she is in bed with us, she does not like to sleep next to us. Her FAV spot to sleep during the day is the back of my neck (and that is a pain in the neck for me…lol) She is cute, if I’m standing up she will craw up my leg and body to get to my neck, and if I’m sitting on the floor she will crow up my side to my neck and just fall asleep. Or her other fav spots are my chest (I think its cuz she can hear my heart beat and it reminds her of her mother, kind of like a real baby would) and she will also sleep on my back and side.

So when we got to bed I normally have to stay in one spot so she can fall asleep. It’s kind of a pain in the butt. Leaving her in anther room won’t work cuz she cries non stop when I do this. I can’t sleep when she cries (cuz she is making noise not cuz I feel bad for her, although I do, but not enough to not want to sleep over it) So how can I get her to sleep all night, or at what age to they start to sleep all night?

Welcome to motherhood!!! I hate to break it to you but you have a couple more sleepless nights ahead of you. You said you had just gotten her yesterday, so she's only had one day and night to get to used to being without her biological mother. Give her a few more days and she will learn to sleep at night. One thing to keep in mind is that most cats prefer to sleep during the day and stay awake most of the night, it's just the way they work. If you are really desperate to try something new to get your kitten to go to sleep you can try a trick that new puppy owners use. Wrap a clock that ticks in a pillowcase, stuffed animal, or blanket and put it in a bed with your kitten. This usually helps them to feel like their mother is there, because they can hear the ticking and it sounds like a heartbeat. If that doesn't work, you'll just have to wait it out.

Just like a baby she won't sleep all night until she is a little older but you could try making her, her own little bed on the floor next to yours or even at the foot of your bed. Put a heat pad in it (on low) with a soft blanket and find a purr sound to put in there with her or even a clock ticking sound to imitate mothers heart beat. Try to keep her awake during the day as much as possible also. That will wear her out at night she will sleep more. She is still a baby and wants all of you attention all the time, but in time she will learn Mommy and Daddy need sleep at night...lol. Good luck I hope this helps some.

A kitten will not leave you alone when it wants to play. If you are unable to keep it in a separate room at night, you could try a squirt bottle. When the kitten starts bothering you shake the water bottle as a warning. If it does not stop then spray/mist it once. It might be hard while trying to avoid your husband. I became so tired with one of my kittens, I would sleep while it was pouncing on my hand. If you have no other choice than to wake up with it, then you would want to tire it out fast. Those little red laser pointers are great for doing just that. With one of those, you wouldn't even need to get out of bed to play with it.

Cats are nocturnal. i have a 4 month old kitten and he flies around the house at night knockin stuff over and playing with every thing he can get his paws on. if u have a spare room in the house, i would sugest u put him there at night with the litter box and food and water bowls. thats just what cats do.

and its a cat. he cant make u let him sleep where he wants to, its the sound of ur heart beat that comforts them, thats y u will tend will see kittens always sleep near the moms stomach.

Have you thought about getting a kitty friend for this kitten? same age? That way they will play with each other, instead of waking you up. If there are two of them, they probably won't cry so much when you shut them out of your room (They'll have each other as company).

They are very playful for quite awhile.... I had a pair who were still chasing each other around at night when they were 2 1/2. (It really bugged the landlady who lived downstairs! I always had to catch them and put them in their travel kennels so they would not thunder around at 3 a.m. waking up the landlady!)

you have to play with kittens a lot right before you go to bed to make them tired out. They sleep all day long that they become very active at night. Also feed her before you go to sleep because this helps make her sleepy.

when me and my sister got kittens we put them and their litter box in the bathroom for a couple of weeks until they were old enough to know that nighttime means sleeptime! it worked and now they sleep the whole night though!
