I've seen some food labels that say "Best by...
so, that means? dont eat the product? or means that it won't be as good as fresh but is ok to eat it?
I have this power bars that say Best by Dec-06 and I dont want to throw them away...

Yes, "Best by/before" is a quarunteed freshness date....you can eat it after that but it's not going to be as "fresh" as it would have been had you eaten it earlier.

"Expiry" dates mean the product has expired, don't go anywhere near it after that date....especially if it's dairy.

Yes, 'best before' means you should eat it by that date though it might be ok for an extra day or two,,,,,'expired' means it is bad on that date, and you should just throw it out
Power bars are ok a little out, they may just start to taste a little stale

Best by is the time frame in which the food will preserve it's nutritional value, taste and flavor. Expired by is after that date the food is no longer good for you and you can actually develop food born illness because the preservants are no longer good.

Best by means just that. After that date they may not be as fresh but you can eat it.
Expired by means it's not supposed to be good at that date...your call. Mostly things say sell by date too, it's still good after they just can't sell as fresh after that date.

Best by: means the product will perform/taste/look the best if you use it before that date.

Expired: means the product either can not or should not be used past that point.

Best buy means that it will be best to eat it by that date. expired by, means that if you eat it after that date its no ones but your own fault if you get ill.

its health dept rules they just cant sell them but you can buy expired and close out foods at close out stores it is just so they won't leave things in stores 4 ever!!
