I am running Windows XP home edition with service pack 2 on a Dell. A few weeks ago I downloaded and installed Internet Explorer 7 optimized for Yahoo. I ran it for a few days. I didn't like it and uninstalled it and my computer rolled back to my old IE6.whatever. A couple of weeks later I downloaded and installed IE7 again. I don't like the way it runs. I get a lot of "Internet Explorer can't find the page" messages and have to click refresh, or when that doesn't help, go back and try again. I tried removing it again through my Control Panel, Add Remove Programs. It wont uninstall because there is a program that is part of the installition that the uninstall wizard can't find, so it can't create a back up, and thus wont let me uninstall it. I also can't download and install IE6 because during the installition process when it recognizes that I have IE7 it stops and tells me that it can't proceed. What can I do? How can I get IE7 out? If I cant get it out I'll try another Browser.

sometimes the best way to uninstall a program that wont uninstall, is to reinstall it so that all the files are refreshed/repaired and then try to uninstall it again. i belive the problem that you are having with your internet explorer 7 displaying the message "internet explorer can't find the page" has to do with the automatic phishing filter that runs everytime ie7 goes to a website. u can disable this option by clicking the icon for it (located on the bottom right handside of the status bar of ie7), scroll to and click on phishing filter settings. scroll all the way down and check the option that says disable phishing filter, or turn off automatic website checking.

I wish I knew the answer, but if you search on the name of the missing file, you might be able to find some documentation on the net.

Not to add insult to injury, but for future reference, you should consider getting a good backup utility. Windows System Restore is not a reliable utility in any kind of way. It only backs up operating system files like the registry, and doesn't touch personal data or program folders. If you don't already have a DVD burner, I recommend getting a USB hard drive. You can find them pretty cheap these days. Use a backup utility like Acronis TrueImage or Norton's Ghost.

Good luck...!

Wow! Sounds as though you are having the same problems that I had when I tried IE7. I don't even like IE6, and have been using Mozilla Firefox for over a year now. Best thing is to let it sit and download the Fox. Good luck!
