There's no paper-work to be engaged. Engagement just means your planning on marrying.

I've never heard of paperwork, but if you're not in North America, I suppose there might be something formal required.

However, when you give an engagement ring (in North America, at least), it is legally seen as a type of contract in that her keeping the ring is contingent on the marriage actually taking place. If either of you decide to break off the engagement before getting married, and you paid for the ring, it's legally your property.

Take her out to dinner maybe to the 1st place yall ever ate at and tell her how much she means to you and then ask her. After that trust she will do the rest. Girls tend to go crazy with it. Only serious paper work ya have to file is when ya get married is like ya marriage licennesse and ya don't do that till like 2 weeks before the wedding. But ya got to do invites and bridal showers and all that good stuff but that's not serious. Good luck. And take it from someone married just a year ago. Remember its just one day and that day won't make ya whole marriage. And the #1 thing for you and your bride to remember is something will go wrong. No matter if its something little. Something always goes wrong. So don't stress to much over it being prefect.

Well just for the engagement i do not believe that there is any sort of formal paperwork needed. Just get her a nice ring and give her a wonderfully romantic proposal and you will be just fine...if there is some kind of paperwork i'm sure that your future fiancee would know. Best of Luck.

"Engagement" is not a legal or formal thing, it simply indicates an intention of marrying. There may or may not be a ring or a proposal. As soon as the couple decides to get married, they are "engaged". Traditionally, the ring is involved, but it is not necessary.

There are no papers to file. You simply ask her and if she says 'yes' give her a ring and set a date for the marriage. You will need a license to get married.

You don't have to do paperwork in order to get engaged, only to marry. Just ask, and give her the ring, and wait for her to say YES!!! Good Luck and an early Congrats!!

Ther is no paperwork to getting engaged (in America anyways). All you have to do is ask her to marry you and if she says yes then you are engaged to be married. It is more of a promise between the two of you than anything else.

you are too cute. There are no papers to fill out just ask her. Filling out papers comes later. Before you get married you will need a marriage liscence. Thats all.

If you are in to traditions you can ask the father of your girlfriend for his permission to ask his daughter for her hand in marriage before you pop the question. Good luck
