What positive effects?
You know, there have been 2 (and only 2) "studies" done on the efficacy of prayer. The first one found a postive correlation between prayer and people in hospitals getting better...and there was much noise about "proof" of the power of prayer. Then it was found out that the conductors of the study had faked their data to make it appear positive (yet another example of christians falsifying science), and the whole thing was discredited.
The second one, properly conducted, showed that prayer was no more effective than chance at obtaining results. So flip a coin, you're just as likely to get what you want as you are praying to a mythical sky-fairy :)

Actually, yes they can. In the Bible, all of Potiphar's household was blessed because Joseph, who while living in Potiphar's household and working for Potiphar, was faithfully following God.
"From the time he [Potiphar] put him [Joseph] in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field" (Genesis 39:5, NIV).

Only since Reagan took office.
Seriously, though, I'm reading _The God Delusion_. He cites a study that showed that prayer does NOT work to help heart patients.

Jesus hinted that the cry's from all of us in heaven will save all --- think about it ... we believe that we're all one body in Jesus Christ --- well, I love my Daddy --- I'd be crying in heaven if I saw my Daddy burning in hell (or vice versa) --- since Jesus loves us sooooo much he want's us all to be happy.
