Funny, because the biblical word for soul (nephesh) is also the word for animal.

Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth ? Ecclesiastes 3/21.

It may be true that you do not know, but God has revealed it.

It also seems to me that Solomon was wiser than we are and further that he was speaking from the inspiration of God.

That you say you have seen animals with more logic and reason than many humans is an amusing thought but it may reflect more on your state of mind than the truth.

Remember that animals have not sinned and do not sin, whereas all humans are fatally affected by sin.

Papa gives an excellent answer.

Animals, according to Bible Scriptures, have souls.
Look at the Scriptures below.

Precisely the same Hebrew phrase used of the animal creation, namely, ne′phesh chai·yah′ (living soul), is applied to Adam, when, after God formed man out of dust from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, “the man came to be a living soul.” (Ge 2:7) Man was distinct from the animal creation, but that distinction was not because he was a ne′phesh (soul) and they were not. Rather, the record shows that it was because man alone was created “in God’s image.” (Ge 1:26, 27) He was created with moral qualities like those of God, with power and wisdom far superior to the animals; hence he could have in subjection all the lower forms of creature life. (Ge 1:26, 28) Man’s organism was more complex, as well as more versatile, than that of the animals. (Compare 1Co 15:39.) Likewise, Adam had, but lost, the prospect of eternal life; this is never stated with regard to the creatures lower than man.—Ge 2:15-17; 3:22-24.

Anyone that thinks animals are devoid of feelings, emotions, consciousness, etc, has obviously never had a pet.

Dogs are one of the easiest animals to see this in, in my opinion. But unless you've had experience with an animal as a loved one, I'm sure it would be somewhat hard to understand.

(In much the same way, some white folks not long ago didn't think black people had "souls" either...)

I'm totally with you Pangel.
Right now, I am the proud caregiver of 11 snakes and 1 cockatiel rescue.. over my lifetime, I've cared for dogs and cats as well.

All of them have different personalities, and I believe they do go on to another life. When is there no life?

Animal Planet is one of my fav channels.. I MISS STEVE IRWIN!

In many Native American cultures, the animals are believed to be our teachers in life, as they have much more wisdom and we are the "newbies" to the earth.

Hugs and blessings,
Kallan

I totally agree with you. Sometimes animals do have more sense than people. I sure they go to Heaven. If you have ever looked into their eyes, you know they have a soul. I have two
cats, fish and 2 fire belly frogs. My grandchildren can't believe their grandma has toads. My cat is so smart he can open the
front door...no reasoning I think not.

Well, Buddhists believe that the only way to not be reborn is to sever yourself from the samsara, and the only way to do that is to achieve Nirvana. So, I guess all of the animals are coming back :)

People don't understand nature anymore, all you have to do is spend a minute with an animal to know that it has a conciousness...

Hello again, people are sad i think, they don't understand so its wrong or does not exist. I have seen many animals come though when I am doing readings, cats and dogs more than anything they seem to remain very loyal to their masters, I don't like that word their more like friends.

Love & Peace

Not really a question is it??? But I agree with you, I think that all living things, including plants, have a soul/spirit/energy and follow a path to whatever there is after life. Personally, I believe in reincarnation.

Of course they have a soul. Why wouldn't they. Anyone who has been around animals should surely see this. I would hate to go to heaven and not see my animal friends.
