ok so im in 8th grade and my math teacher told us 2 weeks ago that we have to turn in our math project which is worth 150 points the next day. even if we arent there we have to find some way to get it in but she said it in a way that i knew she was kidding or at least i thought so.so then the next day i get a cold and stay home sick 2 days... i come back a week later (we had winter break) and i turn it in and she wont take it! she says she clearly said that even tho i thought she was kiding! what should i do?

Discuss the situation with your parents. Talk to your teacher and explain the situation. It is always good to put things in writing, so if a conversation with her doesn't work, write her a letter explaining the situation and maybe copy it to the principal. Then it is time for your parents to talk to her and to go to the principal. Handle the situation calmly and politely, but do be assertive. In 8th grade being sick is a reasonable reason to pass an assignment in late.

My guess is you had many chances to turn it in before this day, and she told you this was your last chance. Lot's of kids pretend to be sick when something big is due. Although I'm not saying you did this, there has to be a line drawn. Ask her if there's anything else you can do to make up some points. Ask her nicely, and act like an adult, because if you whine at her there will be less chance. It doesn't matter what any of us think she should do, but what she actually does that will matter.

well, ur teacher is a little extreme. If all the facts are stated correctly (if u had excused absences) then she is in the wrong . You should talk to a principal or Have a parent call her.
or
you could cry your way out of it.

If she doesnt back down and the principal takes her side then just remember ur only in 8th grade and its not gonna affect ur gpa for high school or anything major.

As an 8th grade math teacher myself I wonder what the heck your teacher is thinking...if you aren't at school, then you aren't at school. I would have your parents talk to the teacher first (after you do of course), then if that doesn't resolve anything talk to the principal and work your way higher. Fight for what you think is right.

I would never reject someone for turning a project in late because they weren't at school on the due date...but thats just me...good luck!

Talk to her. See if she'll just deduct some points. You can always sick your parents on her or the school.

In the end, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's 8th grade. It doesn't count for college so who really cares? Chalk it up as a learning experience.
