I am 27 years old and recently started working out after approximately 7 years of not doing so. I began working out because I had a lack of energy and heard that exercising would improve my energy level. However, it seems like since I started working out I have even less energy. Can anybody give me suggestions to gain more energy including foods that give energy?

Thanks!!

are you also working out to shed weight cause this can change the answer you need. if not try some higher protein meals or a bit more carbs (simple sugars) these are instant pep ups and should not be misused... your body is converting from a caloric burning coma to a high fuel burning machine so more calories may be needed to fuel your self. you must keep a balance thou... its not a license to gorge but to eat more healthy intake foods. you cant go wrong with unprocessed foods like fresh veggies and herbs (try not to eat much ice-burg lettuce thou your body cant use it but on the contrary the leafy vegetables are a good colon cleaning material) after some time of correct eating habits and your body getting used to being active you'll have more energy then you ever thought possible!

Your problem is probably due to lack of nutrition. When working out you have to eat enough of the right kinds of food. You are probably not taking in enough carbohydrates. It is best to eat at least your weight in protein grams ( say if you weigh 100 lbs then you should eat 100 grams of protein a day) and about 3/4 of that in carbohydrates( say 75 grams). Whole grain breads, fruits, and veggies are good crabs fish and poultry are good proteins. Also try to spread your meals to about 5 per day, it will help keep your metabolism up. I went from 300 to 220 and have all the energy I can stand. hope that helps

medically speaking being active and having a healthy balanced diet can keep energy levels high enough to carry out your daily life so be active take vitamins, but if that does not work, you need to go to a doc and have some blood work done, CBC to rule out anemia, endocrine profile to rule out and enzymes deficiency and also check for a virus name Epstein bar virus(90%) people have had this virus which can cause decline in energy levels you get it from kissing so commonly referred to as "kissing disease"
hope i helped, feel better and more energetic!

eating right will do the trick. find foods that are medium to low glycemic. if food is high glycemic it dumps into your plood stream fast and spikes your blood sugar. high glycemic foods make you tired.
