The screening won't damage it (there's not film) and if it's a valuabe camera I would put it in a carry-on, that way there is less risk it will get lost or damaged.

If you don't want to risk losing it, bring it with you on the plane. Airplane luggage does get lost. Call up the airline you are flying and ask what your options are. My husbands carry on luggage is very heavy. Are you sure it weights too much. You will be able to bring your camera bag and a purse, don't think they will allow a camera bag, purse and carry on bag. My camera is only $500.00 and I wouldn't let it out of my site. Just looked at your photo. That bag isn't that big at all. People bring carry ons bigger than that. Airlines will now ask you to unlock your bags before they go through sercurity. They will break the lock if they feel the need to look inside your bags. And locking your bags isn't going to do a thing if your bags are lost. Or you go to Germany and your bags go to England. Calll your airline to get an answer you can count on

It will not be damaged in the screening. And it is definetly better to have it in your carry on. You may want to take pictures of something in the airport. You may want to take pictures soon after landing and you do not want to dig through your luggage for it. And then of course what if your luggage gets lost for a day or something horrible!! Then you will not have your camera to take fabulous pics.
I always put mine in my carry on and suggest you do to! Happy travels!!

I would suggest that you bring you digital camera with you on the aircraft in your carry on luggage rather then in your checked luggage. It should be fine to go through the screening process as you go to the gate.
I don't think they mind if you take pictures on the aircraft, just ask your stewardess.

I brought a digital camera in my backpack at the airport. It will not be damaged during screening. I would bring it on your carry-on bag so it does not get damaged, or anything. I think you can take pics on planes, except I would ask a flight attendent.

It will be fine to take your camera through screening, but about pictures on the plane I would ask because it is an electronic device. I wouldn't want to check my camera either. Have a safe trip and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Definitely carryon - you're just begging to have it stolen in checked in luggage.

Carry-on, if you put it in your luggage, it's going to be stolen.
