Yeah, but if those suckers have their lights on, you can notice you right away, and they won't get their quota

No, that tale came from a case where a vehicle hit a cruiser that was parked at night with no lights on. Of course the money hungry person sued the department even know the cruiser was not on the street and the person won.

No they don't have to have lights on. If you do see them with lights on, it's for their safety.
And for the other posters.....
There is no such thing as a quota, ticket quotas haven't been around since the 70's or 80's.
Radar works during the night or day, that doesn't have anything to do with anything.

I lost a case where I was speeding...the lights were off and the car was pointed in the wrong direction on the freeway. Apparently the judge ruled they could do that.

well now due to all the complaints that people have been putting in, i think they are stopping all the mobile cameras and the radar speed trap... they are also stopping to make any new ones at the moment.. i don't think they will resist for long as it is a heavy money making scheme..

they are suppose to, it's entrapment to have their lights off, but it doesn't matter really the judge is gonna side with the cops anyways, since you can't prove that his lights were off at the time.

No.
Why would they advertise their presence?
I don't want to hear them complain anymore when they're rear-ended at 70 mph though.
