We got a new 9 week old kitten saturday. My 3 year old dog is driving me crazy. She's very possessive of me barking even when i hug my husband. She isn't aggressive towards the kitten just crawls under the bed where kitten is and barks and whines. When i close the bed room door she whines and barks at door. Kitten doesn't seem threatened just doesn't come out from under bed when dog is around. Please, Please help me before i loose my mind.

Do not force them to interact if the dog seems like it wants to harm the cat in any way. If you have enough room in your home you should try keeping them completely separate for a few days, limiting their area to a single room each (this will likely drive your dog crazy for a while, but is best in the long run.)
Then after at least two days, let the two switch rooms, this will give your dog a chance to acclimate to the smell of the new kitten. After a couple more days try and introduce them again. If the dog is still upset go back to separate rooms a few more times. The dog will likely remain hyper around the kitten at first, so even if they are getting along, they should still be separated especially when you are not around, until the kitten is less "exciting".

Remember, one bad encounter when house pets are first introduced can set the tone for their entire future relationship.

Poor u and husband. Dog is jealous of kitten. Kitten is frightened and dog is threatened by a new member of the family. Did u try to separate them and spend time playing with just dog, then just with kitty? Maybe it will help. Maybe u can try to put focus on just them when the pets are together too.

encourage playing or putting them together (if the dog doesn't attack). The pooch needs to know that they can coexist. If your dog is still playful, consider a small ball (that the pooch won't choke on) and getting them to play together. This will pass, your pooch is just gonna have to realize what's up. He will probably become protective of the cat after a while!!!
