My natural hair color is black. I got it in highlights with a mocha base and blonde highlights. Need to get my natural hair color back. I know it won't be the same but I would like to add the black color on the higlighted area. Is that OK? Thinking of doing it at home tonite. Any suggestions for a nice hair product?

If you have blonde highlights, you have to use a reddish base color first or the black haircolor will turn your hair green. Do not use an ash brown or black! Go to a salon supply house. Color Charm in the tube is a good brand and 10% volume Peroxide.
Again you have to put some red back in the hair or the hair will be green or even gray. Maybe a dark red brown first, wait a month, then try a dark brown.

confident, you could surely try this at homestead, and it is going to likely be plenty extra no longer expensive than going to a salon. First, because of the fact that your hair is so long, you will would desire to purchase 2 or 3 boxes of haircolor (purchase 3 to be secure). next, positioned vaseline (or chapstick) throughout your neck, ears, and around your hairline to guard your epidermis from the dye. blend up the dye in accordance to the field training and be conscious on your roots first. (in case you dye your hair a lighter colour they inform you do your roots final because of the fact the bleach would be speeded up via your head's physique warmth. this would not be conscious for darker hair colour) Then, paintings something of the dye by way of your hair, kinda such as you do once you shampoo interior the bathe. you could no longer positioned too plenty dye on your hair, yet you could positioned too little. If uncertain, use extra, no longer much less. Pile it up in a bun and go away it for 25 minutes. Then rinse and undertaking. (word: I used Feria in "black leather-based". I enjoyed it, and it dwindled slightly over the years so as that my for sure darkish brown roots weren't very important.)

This sounds like the dumbest question, but bear with me.

Are you sure your natural color is really black? Unless you're African or Asian, it's likely not. But it may *look* black in its natural state, even if it isn't.

Clairol makes a color called "darkest brown" that's a warm brown based very very dark color. You may want to try that before you go with a true black, which may look weird.

Ohhh...be careful...to many chemicals could cause chemical burn and really make your hair look bad. Unless you want to spend a lot having a professional repair the color I would suggest a temporary die that washes out to use until you can grow the color out. I over dyed my hair and its took about a year to finally get it back to having a healthy sheen. I use the temporary die to keep the color even.
