I am a needle phobe myself, and I understand how you feel. I had my first major blood test when I was 18 for thyroid problems, and I was terrified. It turned out that it wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. I have to have these tests done twice a year now, and while I certainly don't like it, I don't sweat these anymore. It doesn't hurt much and it will be over with before you know it. The professionals in charge of your care will take excellent care of you.
I have also had two surgeries (knee, ear), and while I was scared, everyone was nothing but good to me, and were understanding of how I felt.
Health care professionals understand that patients, espessially young patients, will be a little uneasy, and will understand.
Wishing you the best, and you will be just fine! :)

Don't worry. The bllod test is easy. The nurse will ask you to roll up your sleeve. Then she will wrap a piece of cloth or plastic tubing around you arm to help. That doesn't hurt. It's just alittle tight to put pressure on the arm to make it easier for the nurse to draw the blood.
The nurse will then clean a small area on your arm just above the elbow with a pad.
Finally, she'll put a small needle in your arm. It will feel like a stinging sensation for a second. That's all!
When the nurse is done, she will take the tie off your arm and maybe put a small band aid over the part where the needle was.
You don't even have to watch the needle. Just count to 10 and you will be done!
Your mom can be with you. As a matter of fact, in most states, it's the law that aparent has to be with a child for many kinds of medical tests!
So don't worry!

Yes, Mum can stay with you. I promise, it is not a big deal. They will put a rubber band around your arm, swab the area with an antiseptic pad and insert the needle into your vein (which is right under your skin so it doesn't go in as far as a shot) It will be a small "pinch" then it doesn't hurt. Look away when they put the needle in. Have Mum hold your other hand and talk to her. You will be surprised at how easy and fast it is. Don't worry.

Most doctors ask that a parent stay with a minor during blood draws. Having blood drawn doesn't hurt any more than a shot.. and if you will just take a few deep breaths to relax and look away from the doctor or nurse who is drawing the blood you will not even notice it as much.

Yes, you can have your mother there. Who doesn't hate needles, it would be strange if someone enjoyed it. Yes, it's going to hurt. They'll prick someplace on your arm, take less than five seconds to draw, and pull it out. This will leave a mark and might be tender, they usually slap a bandage on it and that's it. The best thing to do is not try to anticipate the shot, your imagination tends to make the experience worse than it is. If you can, bring some music that calms you and listen to it during the shot, that helps.

Yes, your Mum can stay with you. It's your choice. If anyone tries to shoo her away, loudly state that you want her there. The blood draw will only hurt for a second and then it's over. There's no lasting soreness. If you're a little squeamish, look away. If you start to feel funny, tell the nurse. She can help you.

It just hurts for a second. I'm sure they'll let your mother stay with you.
