I have a ten-month-old Newfoundland dog and a Great Pyrenees nearing five years in age. The younger dog can't leave our Pyr alone! I know she wants to play, but she'll bark in his face for what seems like hours, bite him (and us) everywhere, and sit on him until he makes a move. My first inclination was to leave it alone and let him handle it, but it's becoming an everyday habit. The Pyr and I aren't the only ones annoyed by it. He whines and whimpers, but he's almost always too lazy to do anything to stop her or at least try. I feel awful for him and I just wish that she would recognize that he's tired sometimes and stop instead of going on and on until we feed her dinner or something. She's also play biting still as well as barking, and it is hard for me to believe that she should still be carrying these behaviors on. The Pyr was such a low-maintenance puppy, and we expected similar from her. However, we're stuck now, and these things must stop sometime.

I take it your Great P is submissive to this. Good dog. I would start gently but firmly hitting your dogs rear (not with the hand) when he begins this, and, if your Great P won't show dominance, start biting the pups ear. Not Mike Tyson style, but enough to hurt a little but not break skin or anything. Sometimes that's what it takes is an actual act of dominance that they understand. Act like the alpha and do this even when he's just messing with the Great P.

newfoulands dont usually grow out of their puppy stage until about 2 years of age, your best bet would be to either separate them or out the newfie on a leash and give a gentle tug when this behavior starts act as if you are the alfa male and remind him you are the boss i wouldnt recommend hitting her or punishing her because this is just a natural instinct for them usually you can train them with the leash and a gentle tug

i think you should put the dog in the other room for about maybe 3 min. This might help the dog realize that she can't bit you and your older dog. And if this does not work maybe you should discipline her when bad and give her a treat or two when she is good...hope this helped!!!!!! :')
