let's assume it's the real reason. what does it really mean? i suppose that means the guy is immature. then for all the guys who've used this excuse before, will you ever come back? how long does it take for you to figure things out. For example, my ex bf said this to me when breaking up with me. he's a senior in college and we are each other's first love.

You want the truth? Really?

It means "I don't have the balls to tell you why I'm really breaking up with you, but I am, so don't give me any grief or any silly crying. Goodbye."

Guys are pretty simple - you just think we're complex.

The phrase doesn't mean the same thing from every guy. Some guys really just need time to find who they are as an individual instead of as a couple. Sometimes they will come back, sometimes they won't. Think of this, if he finds he is happier without you, would you want him to come back if it means he isn't happy? Be glad you have experienced love and try to keep in contact with him. Don't judge current people on your ex's, trust me, it never works.

The phrase has been used so much that it really doesn't mean anything.

Some guys say it because they are too immature to say that they have problems with you.
Other guys say it because they think they need to find themselves.
And still other guys say it because they don't want to be in a relationship and need a break.

Oh well he wont be back because he told you that and you should have said I agree, you I have other options and I think you and I should go our seperate ways. I bet he would've grew up real quick. If he realizes that he lost something good he will come back. Bottom Line ok Trust that if he feels he lost something good he will be back, it never feels because you know why, people go back to or surround themselves around people or things that they want or think about a lot. We all do it!

It means one of two things:
A. There is something wrong with the relationship, but they are not really sure what it is, can't put their finger on it.
-or-
B. There is something wrong with the relationship but they don't want to hurt your feelings.

No relationship should be so "everything" that either person can't go after other things they want (sports, hobbies, just hanging out with their friends). If it gets to be too smothering, guys will bolt.

I think this statement regardless of sex means that the other person wants to go out and date other people to figure out if you are the one they want to be with. With this being said, they might realize you are the one that they want forever and sometimes the next person they date is the one they want forever. In my opinion you should see if he is the one you really want. Go out there and experience life by yourself and friends and if that next special guy comes around have fun with it. Good luck to you and your "i don't know what I want" ex!

Its a nice way of saying they dont want you.

If they wanted you, they will know and you will know.

Thus, sometimes the person might be too immature. Or they just want to venture into new pastures.

Good Luck.

What he means is he wants to be with someone else but he's cool with the idea of a romp in the sack with you.
You're right. He's immature.

I don't think you can assume it's the real reason, because it's not the real reason! It means they do know what they want, and it's not you, but they're trying not to hurt your feelings.
