Brighton and Solitude both have good beginner hills with the best graduation of difficulty. Brighton has night-skiing but Solitude has better amenities. Solitude also has ice-skating so if anyone in your family does not fancy the slopes, they at least have an alternative winter activity to do. Alta's not bad either but they don't allow snowboarding. Snowbird I don't think is a very good "beginner's" ski area.

You know, Utah is mostly family friendly. I think that at any area you go, you will find a great experience. We also have a ton of great ski areas packed nearby.

Solitude is a great option, so are the resorts on the Park City side, Park City, Deer Valley, and the Canyons.

Utah has two ski areas that are skiers only (no snowboarders): Deer Valley and Alta.

Sounds strange given its reputation, but I reckon the Albion side of Alta fits the bill. Skiers only, of course.
