It is safe. USDA does not over see seafood. That is done by USDC (US Dept of Commerce). Seafood imported into the United States is cleared at its point of entry by USDC. A very large percentage of imported seafood currently comes from China. The chance that any further processed product in a grocery store (even those with brand names like Mrs. Paul's, Vandekamps and Gortons) came from China is very high and more than likely. Why is this? The cost of labor in China is a fraction of that here in the US or else where abroad.

I lived in China for over 8 years.

The food there is delicious!

Don't worry.

If it is not stamped somewhere USDA APPROVED than I would think you got a bag that by-passed the system.
