It depends on where you are flying from. I'm in Ohio, USA, and everytime before I purchase a flight ticket to Bangkok, Thailand, I check the site www.thaifly.com. They have an office in Chicago and Bangkok. In 2005, I paid around $900 round trip from Cleveland, Ohio to Bangkok, Thailand all charges and tax included. Since the New Year bombings in Bangkok, I bet that you can get lower fares, just wait about 3 to 4 weeks from now the Thail Tourism will come out with promotion package. I just read the Thai newspaper online today that they are planning to do something about the future declining tourism due to the bombings.

Your asking about long haul flight which very few people do, go on net and type in airlines this should take you to prices etc, if not there will be a link. I would think you are going to be looking at ba or virgin. good luck.
