Hi you need to go to your dentist they are not all bad. I am a dental nurse and I know that this problem will not be sorted by itself. You may have receding gums but the main problem will be bone disease. If you have receding gums, it is usually a sign of infection or a build up of tartar and plaque. Which in turn affects the bone supporting the teeth. You will probably need a series of scaling treatments to tighten up the gum. Nothing can be done about the bone loss though. If it is really bad there are things they can do to replace the tooth, such as a bridge. If the tooth is just clicking slightly now and again there is nothing wrong with it, it is just the ligaments in the tooth socket. Good luck, do go and see a dentist as there are ,many things that can be done and you wont be walking around with a gap, I can assure you.

If it lose because of receeding gums i'm afraid there is not much that can be done to save the tooth! But visit the dentist and they will give you advice on how to prevent your gums from further receeding. They can't prevent it completely because it is part of the natural aging process but they will give you tips on how to take care when brushing your teeth! Your gums can recede (more than they should) due to either brushing your teeth too hard or not brushing and flossing enough thus resulting in plague build up which attacks the gums. if you smoke I suggest you give up - smoking is extremely bad for the gums! Go to the dentist though - it is better than losing more teeth later on!!

You need to brush your gums as well as your teeth.
I had a gingivectomy done to help my gums, but I won;t go into details - it sounds horrible, but did not cause much pain.
You have to face your fears no matter what, the alternative would be losing all your teeth, and having to go any way, so go now while there is a chance.
Take a forceful friend with you, and tell them not to let you back out no matter what.

Receding gums can be stopped but not reversed. Treatment is better brushing (lots, but not too much - overbrushing can exacerbate it) and flossing. Best to go; you will wish you had.
