For me, it's both a zionist and religious interest as one.
I believe in the tora/bible, in which g-d promises us the tora, a nation that will always live, and the land of Israel. It's also told, though, that there will be many years that we'll be in exile, moving from land to land blabla...but in the end our redemption will come and we'll live in our precious eretz yisrael.
So you see, in Israel I'm fulfilling what I believe in, and that makes me a Zionist.
To miss "toda"- toda raba lach! I like your views!

My interest in Israel is simple---it holds the history of my faith and it is where Jesus will return to. Not to mention it is where he spent his time.
Next--it is also the land given to Gods chosen people the Jews and I stand with Israel and her right to exist. So I am also a Zionist.
Last but not least--Israel or more exact--Jerusalem is where the fate of the world begins and ends--decided by God himself.
Regardless of all the worlds plans against Israel--they will all be squashed by the God of Israel.

What a loaded question. LOL. I don't think many everyday citizens understand exactly what the history is. When I was in college I did a public speaking assignment on Israel because I was confused on it's history and the history in the Middle East in general. It is something everyone should know about.
But to answer your second question, I don't know, my friend, I just don't know.

hey retarded ben zona baby!- look for palestine and you'll find it only in records from ancient Rome. It was a latin name that arabs adopted when they came from the arabian peninsula in the 630's CE and claimed "palestine" as their own. Jews existed there 2,600 years before Islam was invented. Furthermore, Mavet le kol aravi, ha aretz shel ha yehudim!!!!

Zionism is one facet of my religious belief that Jews are entitled to their homeland and should live there.
