modern day religions are based on believable facts?

Are they better than old religions like the ones the ancient Greeks and Romans had?

Did every single person that ever lived before Jebus/Allah/Whatever go to a supposed bad place like hell?

Do the majority of people in the world go to hell since there is no one religion that dominates the entire world? Would such a loving and understanding god let something like this happen?

Was religion initially created to explain the things people could not explain before technologies came along?

Are the Thundercats cool?

Thundercats, HO!
There is no bad place called hell. It's the name of the Goddess of the Underworld, but her name is Hel (same pronunciation, different spelling)

People want to rule the world, but it's impossible for ONE person to control the world. Your fifth question is a "yes" from me.

That is the best explanation for why there are gods. People had gods for the reason of explaining the unexplainable. The sun god, the fire god, the god of fertility, etc. Today, there is only one mystery that will likely not be solved. The beginning of the world. This mystery will never be solved because one: Man was likely not around when the world/ universe was coming together. Two: When "man" first came on the scene, there was little communication more than grunting and pointing, and three: There was no written history during those periods as well.

So, literally, there is only one mystery left that can't, and likely never will be, solved. Today's religion seem focused on that mystery alone. We know how fire works, we know how the sun works, and we know how when women can get pregnant.

And yes, Thundercats are cool!!

I do believe that some of the things in holy texts happened, but not all of the things mentioned in holy texts written around the world are true events. Some are fables, parables, moral tales, etc. For example, Native American culture actually has a story about a smart man who worked magic and who was called to the sky by earth and returned later, when the earth was dying. Hmmmm...is this an archetype?
I also believe that there is truly only one God. People can call it what they want, God will answer to whatever name. It's there.
And so no, people before God, Allah, etc. willnot go to hell.
Religion was created by societies to keep people in line, to dominate people into following societal rules, to provide de facto reasons for the oppression of groups of minorities and women, to scare people into behaving.
And the Thundercats were cool at one point, without a doubt.
